The band that would become August Hotel was formed in January 2011 for a last minute battle of the bands in a church basement. Regrouping more seriously that summer, the current version of the band has received airplay on 103.9 The Fox, press on IndieU and The Deli Chicago, and performs all around the Chicago area (though they have ventured into both Michigan and Wisconsin too).
