OS X: Extract JDK to folder, without running installer. Published July 10, 2014. On Linux, I'm used to downloading the JDK as a tarball, extracting it, and setting PATH and JAVA HOME accordingly. This makes it super-easy to switch Java versions, run multiple older versions, and so on. I just got a Macbook Air, and the only option for installing Java there, is a .dmg file with a .pkg installer. No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame. How to extract to a folder. That WoW server blade. Published August 08, 2014. EDIT: This was posted to Hacker News. More details about the hardware can be found there! I won this e-bay auction. The item that was aucioned was an authentic decomissioned server blade for the World of Warcraft realm that I play on, Sunstrider (EU). On launch, each WoW realm was powered by 4 of these blades, and I got my hands on one of them when they auctioned them off after doing upgrades across the board for all realms. I got lots of internet points.
