All Things Candice Ayala. KCW Challenge: WILD THINGS at the Zoo Part 1 – featuring Abigail. Really excited about this season’s challenge for KCW. I thought the theme was perfect considering the fact that we wanted to take the kids to the San Diego Zoo on our weekend trip to San Diego (which happened last weekend). Thankfully I started the projects far in advance so I had enough time to sew up something for both the cubs! So I’ll give them each their individual spotlight (so to speak. She was being super ...

I MADE A MERMAID TAIL! | Candice Ayala

All Things Candice Ayala. I MADE A MERMAID TAIL! So Confession time: I did not intend to do a third post for Kids Clothes Week …this just sorta happened! I MADE A MERMAID TAIL! Mermaids can be considered “Wild Things” right? Ever since I made Abigail her mermaid themed SWIMSUIT. She’s been asking me to make her a mermaid tail. Each time she sees me behind the sewing machine, or going through fabric she’ll ask me, “. Are you making my tail now, Mom? The tail fins looked weird and wonky! I thought maybe if...

Stitched by the Sea. Max’n and Relax’n →. KCW – Summer. July 28, 2014. It’s been a crazy week. We have family visiting, the girls have a million summer dance classes and swim team and Barrett turned one! How on earth did that go so fast? I was able to push through and sew an hour or more a day and actually have the clothes to prove it. In the interest of fairness, everyone got a thing or two. For Barrett, I made the lullaby layette. Ella got a Skater Dress. I have to say I love that she is little enough ...

Stitched by the Sea. An Art Museum with cargo pockets upcycle →. Field Trip Raglan Upcycle. February 7, 2015. When my dear friend Sarah came to visit last year, she was wearing a t-shirt from the famed Momastery. Was the perfect time to tackle this project. I laid out all the t-shirt patterns that I have on the woman’s size medium shirt. I really thought the Flashback Skinny Tee. I was able to use the ribbed waistband of the original shirt for the neckband of the ragalan tee. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Stitched by the Sea. KCW – Summer. Finally a badminton →. Max’n and Relax’n. August 8, 2014. At Barrett’s first birthday party, Ella informed me that she wanted a maxi dress. Wait, what? She’s five so I can only assume it is something that she overheard. So I asked her what a maxi dress was. Her answer, “You know, like a really long dress”. Uhm, okay so she knows what a maxi dress is and she wants one. What is she five going on fifteen? Lucky for me, I have the Go to Patterns Signature Dress. That I was ...

Stitched by the Sea. Wild Thing….she loves you! April 24, 2015. As you may recall I’ve vowed to not sew Ella things that she won’t wear. So most dresses are out. That said, she still needs dressy-ish clothes for church, fancy dinners and the occasional theater trip with Grandma. I decided to make things I know she wears (shorts and tops) and just make them out of nicer, but still washable (because I’ve already learned that lesson) fabrics. See what I mean? 50% off Red Tag sale. It is a linen look but...

Stitched by the Sea. Monthly Archives: February 2015. An Art Museum with cargo pockets upcycle. February 10, 2015. If nothing else, I love a challenge. So for her birthday this year and for the foreseeable future, I am making clothes that she’ll actually enjoy wearing, starting with the Playtime Tunic. I couldn’t love it more. It’s the perfect mix of all things Ella and some things me. The Peter Pan collar and gold topstitching at the cuff and hem are all me. Just look how those butterflies line up down the front!
