Although this is a wondrous and interesting thing to hear for a few minutes, it is not an unalloyed pleasure in larger doses. In my case the recital stage was an oak tree only twenty-five or thirty feet from my bedroom window - did I mention they are very loud? Eventually it moved on. Maybe it found a mate. Posted by Tom DePlonty. I'm a composer and pianist living near the Boston area, who writes mostly electronic music. I've worked for a long time with my friend, the composer Tim Risher, as part of Paragaté, a fluid group that Tim started in the late 1980s. Our thirty-year collaboration has been a big influence on me. Others threads are a lifetime of close listening to many kinds of music, and training in composition, piano, and chamber music. Posted by Tom DePlonty. In the late 1980s, I thought about writing a set of songs, or an oratorio, using words from William Blake's poem The Book of Urizen. Is Blake's version of The Fall, written in the voice of a prophet. I was never able to finish the piece, which was out of my reach for a lot of reasons. It's hard to write music with the intensity and pacing to carry that voice, for one thing. It didn't get further than a collection of sketches. After finishing Music for Michael Skrtic.
