Reports on travels in our motorhome, Tuzigoot. We chose this name from the Tuzigoot National Monument we visited on one of our first trips. Friday, July 18, 2014. Friday morning we left for Las Vegas to visit daughter Heidi, husband Joseph, and twin sons Landon and Julian. From Williams, AZ to the Vargas house in NW Vegas it is about 185 miles and four hours of driving. Trip was uneventful. Twins, of course, were thrilled to see their grandparents! Watching a video in the castle. I did a double-take as I...

Reports on travels in our motorhome, Tuzigoot. We chose this name from the Tuzigoot National Monument we visited on one of our first trips. Thursday, July 30, 2015. We have been fully focused on Susie's July 6 surgery and then her recovery since we returned to Houston at the first of July, so there has not been much tourist activity. The surgery was quite successful and she is recovering nicely and we have had visitors the last week. That provided an opportunity for some extracurricular activity. For fli...

In case you're wondering about bridge warnings of ice or snow plows: Ontario has no bridge warnings. They assume if you're driving here, you oughta know. Nevertheless, I was comforted to cross into Michigan and see the year-round Bridge May Be Icy signs. This (1/10th mile-marker project) was initiated in response to the. I found an article t...

Monday it was just us and the girls. We played games and did puzzles, then went to a movie (Planes: Fire Rescue - pretty cool bunch of airplanes fight forest fires) and lunch at McDonald's. A fine time was had by all. I also remember learning to ride a bike that year - Dad running down the street holding me and the bike up then releasing us.

Reports on travels in our motorhome, Tuzigoot. We chose this name from the Tuzigoot National Monument we visited on one of our first trips. Saturday, September 29, 2012. In our NYC posting way back in August I linked to one of my all-time favorite bits in TV history, but no one provided any feedback. Link was at end of post, so I guess no one got there, or if they did, were too tired to click the link. So, one more try: Lullaby of Broadwa. Y, by the Taxi. That's Grandpa and Nei-nei on the pumpkin. Rob an...

In between events, I took in a couple of historical sites: the OK History Center and the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum (formerly the Cowboy Hall of Fame). Susie said she'd rely on me to report the highlights and bring back pictures, so she relaxed at the RV park while I did my Oklahoma heritage thing. Way back in the 1970s my dad was Execut...

Oh, both churches have quilting groups and both have provided Susie a prayer quilt. Here's a picture. Interesting how the colors match. Here's a map copied from Wikipedia. Note how Hwy 36 cuts right through the Dallas-San Antonio-Houston triangle which gave rise to SW Airlines. Got to Houston in early afternoon and when Susie and Mandi got hom...
