In “Indian Camp”, two characters, the Indian husband and Nick, are presented with a situation; the story reveals how these two characters gain perception of the circumstances. The Indian husband chooses to kill himself, for he perceives the situation as unsuitable. Nick is presented with the idea of death, but he chooses to ignore the meaning of the matter.

Monday, December 13, 2010. In the Modernism unit, several ideas were discussed. Hemingway conveys the story. Uses elaborate descriptions in order to present the story. It was difficult for me to understand the concepts Hemingway expressed due to the art of reduction, for a great amount of time was spent on trying to understand the core of the story.
