Militant Wandering: High plains driftin
http://militantwandering.blogspot.com/2009/09/high-plains-driftin.html
Sunday, September 27, 2009. Thought this posted from a road stop yesterday, but so heres for you now. Its been way too long since Ive posted - too little time between mad dashes and whirlwind visits. Im in north Tejas on my way to Truchas, NM where I get to hole up and write for a couple of days before heading to Las Cruces and then Tucson. From a pecan stand [not as quaint as it sounds] in Chillicothe, TX. Next posts: From camo to corrections and Preparing for family separation. Beyond Walls and Cages.

Militant Wandering: Truth or Consequences, NM
http://militantwandering.blogspot.com/2009/09/truth-or-consequences-nm.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Truth or Consequences, NM. This road trips just going to have to go on. My posts are ridiculously behind - some nuts and bolts of life go on even on the road, you know? Suffice it to say, the road trip chronicles will be in real time and lag time. For now some rocking good stuffed sopapillas adovada, Christmas style [thats red and green chile for folks who havent yet wandered thru New Mexico], is the order of the day. Cant wait to really catch you all up! ArtJail (Phil, PA).

Militant Wandering: Post-WWII economic development in a tin can
http://militantwandering.blogspot.com/2009/09/post-wwii-economic-development-in-tin.html
Monday, September 28, 2009. Post-WWII economic development in a tin can. The farther away I am from Florida and the Gulf Coast, the more I'm struck by what I saw along the interstate without even stepping out of the car. Exit by exit, one gets a rapid glimpse of the favored economic development projects of the past half century: military bases and defense contracting, massified agriculture, casinos, outlet malls [or hi-tech business parks in richer suburbs and parts of the country], and prisons. Southwes...

Militant Wandering: Sanctuary & Punishment
http://militantwandering.blogspot.com/2009/10/sanctuary-punishment.html
Thursday, October 22, 2009. It's been way too long since I've posted. Been through the borderlands, through LA (where I got to participate in a wonderful community planning process), through Arpaio country, and now a bit of time in New Mexico before making quick leaps back across the country. San Francisco has had one of the strongest sanctuary city policies in the nation, but earlier this week, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to water down its sanctuary city policy. Beyond Walls and Cages.

Militant Wandering: August 2009
http://militantwandering.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2009. A Thousand Little Threads. Day before the road trip, I wake with writing on my brain. And then I remember that I sent a big chunk of that manuscript off and have a break from it for a while. Instead today the countless last minute preparations for leaving: must see my favorite yoga instructor, put coop membership on hold, run by Bluestockings,. Reorganize files post-deadline frenzy, get keys made (ha), and on. Looking forward to tour of Eastern State Penitentiary. Earlier this su...
