She is a potter as well as a sculptor that utilizes environmentalist imagery, and she uses FISH and other aquatic life! Check her out. Her surfaces are lovely and her content is funny yet serious. Marge Gormley's Ceramics: Thanksgiving Break... What?
http://margegormleyceramics.blogspot.com/2012/11/thanksgiving-break-what.html
Sunday, November 25, 2012. Thanksgiving Break. What? This week was Thanksgiving break! How can that be? Time is flying and I am feeling the pressure set in! I love the idea of transferring my patterning through the use if sgraffitto! Something I will definitely be doing more of. It was somehow liberating and it adds to some of the layering and depth I am trying to achieve. November 26, 2012 at 4:48 PM. So glad you are using slips and love the rubbed out sgraffito! gratiab artworks: Who Says Ceramics and Performance Art Don't Mix?
http://www.gratiab.com/2011/02/who-says-ceramics-and-performance-art.html
Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Who Says Ceramics and Performance Art Don't Mix? We were talking about conceptual and contemporary art in Art Theory Seminar - and, inevitably, the discussion turned to what is good and bad conceptual art and why. Now, one might say that conceptual performance art clay=mud. And one would be right. Seriously, I love her pieces - especially Stasis and the Hunger Project Performance. The Hunger Project reads like an Austrian opera set. February 5, 2011 at 7:44 PM. I am a ceramic...

Lovelessclay: The Antikythera Mechanism
http://lovelessclay.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-antikythera-mechanism.html
Thursday, November 8, 2012. Here is a video about the "Antikythera Mechanism" which is the type of thing that is inspiring my new work. Many of you probably know about it, but if not, I urge you to watch this video. It's kind of long, and a bit dramatic, but very interesting non the less. November 12, 2012 at 9:24 AM. Travis Winters Blog: October 2013
http://traviswinters.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 17, 2013. Been a while since I have posted anything, but I have still been keeping busy in the studio. Here is a bouncing/jumping guinea pig that I recently finished. By using an old car shock spring, I was able to make the guinea bobble and sway over the moon. This was a very fun piece to construct and I was pleasantly surprised when everything finally came together. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

Saturday, September 29, 2012. Today Marge Gormley, Austin Weiland and I went to visit Bill Campbell's. Studio in Cambridge Springs, PA. We learned about his computer controlled kilns. His envelope kiln was especially great! He also brought us through his slipcasting, slip and clay processing/recycling system, mold making, and product/shipping warehouse. He was very generous, and shared a true wealth of information with us. Thank you Bill. The slip and clay processing/conditioning area. We were looking at...
