Too often we say about some action “that was great leadership” when in reality what occurred was not leadership at all. I thought of an example to illustrate this point. Consider the final vote that ratified the 19th Amendment. Women in the United States were denied the right to vote. A constitutional amendment granting that right passed. The final State to vote on the ratification was Tennessee.
