Romancing the Muse: March 2009
http://authormariegerrard.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 6, 2009. There are a variety of romantic heroes and heroines, but one of the most popular types seems to be the 'tortured hero/heroine'. The man with a lot of pain in his past who is afraid to love, the woman who had a horrible experience and must be tamed like a wild colt, and so on. I confess to loving these just like so many others. But can't regular, or close to regular, folks star in romances, too? Or is it just that we can't have. Romantic leads be normal? Romancing the Muse: October 2009

Monday, October 5, 2009. Well, that contemporary romance that took over my life is done. It's with my crit partner after having sailed through my beta group. Almost no fixes and the few were minor. I'm amazed. I'm quite excited by it all. It'll be interesting to see what my agent has to say about it, but I'm hoping she enjoys it. And also hoping she wants me to do more contemporaries. Because I have more ideas bubbling now. I love this ride, and I never want to get off. Posted by Marie Gerrard at 11:59 AM.

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Spring Is In The Air. I just looked up and realized, whoops! I haven't blogged in about two months. But, you remember that idea I said I was going to do no matter what? Well, I've been working on it. And, happily, my agent is now all for it. So, I've had a great. Reason to not be blogging. And, okay, truth time. I, sort of, kind of, rather completely, lost track of time. But the weather's been beautiful and I've been cleaning the house (I know - but why. View my complete profile.

Monday, February 9, 2009. Indiana Jones and the Temple of "Oops! My husband and I have a video game tradition. He plays, I watch and kibitz. And, strangely enough, we both enjoy it. Most of the time. I offer helpful hints - "Stop letting them beat you up", "If only you could aim your guns, you'd kill more bad guys and still have ammo", and "No, go that way, the other that way, the way you need to go" being merely three of my standards. But, you know, it's entertaining. Oh, sure, some of that entertai...

Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Fun Times With Stupid People. I was out to lunch with my daughter the other day and was sharply reminded that stupid people come in all sizes, shapes, colors and ages. Okay, I know what you're thinking - they just weren't sure if they wanted to eat there, right? That's what I thought. I mean, they looked like any other set of older ladies, and they didn't have a handler with them, so one assumes they dressed themselves and drove themselves to the restaurant. Keep in mind, thi...

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Spring Cleaning (Or, What's WRONG With Me? Oh sure, the house is cleaner than I probably make it sound, for which, 99% of the time, the kudos go to my husband. But not this. Week, I've been doing the cleaning. And I have only one thing to say: God alone knows why. Wait Two things: Please, God, somebody stop me. For reasons I still can't comprehend but am blaming on Spring (as if we even have. You read that right. From about knee height down, my house is sparkling. And then, perh...

Monday, June 8, 2009. My Personal Farewell to General Motors. Over the course of my life, I've owned more than one GM product and driven many more than I've owned. And it's not nice to kick a corporation when they're down and all, but I'm going to anyway. GM? We are through. Sure, I may one day get a Corvette, but it'll be a vintage Corvette and you won't have anything to do with it by that time. And, as for your flagship brand, I have this to say - Cadillac sucks. My Lexus IS300 is the greatest car ever...

Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Hannah the Wonder Dog. As many of you know, I have pets. Currently, three attention-starved dogs (at least, according to them) and two imperious cats. No Hannah the Wonder Dog is the issue. Hannah, I must stress, is not. Dog She belongs to the family down the block and across the street. The family who doesn't believe in leashes, dog training, or, apparently, common sense. The family who routinely stand there while this scenario plays out, over and over again. But, no worries...
