The family next door is being totally wild – running around, screaming, laughing, thumping-thumping-thumping. I am happy that they seem to be enjoying themselves, but honestly, they’re driving me nuts. I cannot wait to move. Which is happening, in eleven days, ready or not. I don’t actually know where we’re moving, as the house stuff is. I can’t wait:. To have a backyard. Oh, how I have missed grilled food.

It's hot. It's sticky-icky humid Washington in summertime hot, and the aircon can't keep up. And I'm sitting here, dripping, and basically waiting for evening when it cools down. Waiting for the day to be over. What's wrong with that? To have an extra day before (whatever-it-was) was due. Or my friend whose husband has only a few more months to live, I'm sure she would gratefully take this day, sticky-icky temperature and all, and add it to his dwindling supply if she could. Or at least, on my attitude?

The one married to the guy who boasts that the only ice he's seen since 2008 is in his glass of rum? We decided to hang out in Annapolis this year for a couple of logical reasons. I wanted a long period with supertrainer Jen to get my back back into shape so I could, you know, walk. Normally. And we'd needed a few months to let the bank accounts rebound after the excess spending of the last glorious winter in St Augustine. I don't have a log cabin, or woods full of maple trees. The Age of Aquarius. Sunday, October 30, 2011. I was working on putting my training schedule together on Thursday for Iron Girl this year and while I was doing that, the email notice of the earlier registration dropped in my inbox! SO excited to do this for the second time and I am incredibly motivated to shave some time off my transitions and run portion from last year. Last year I only started training 6 weeks before the race but still managed to finish with 30 minutes to spare and a medal in hand!

And all I could think was "damage control". We are a game cube/box/wii free zone here and for a simple reason. One look at the vacant stares of my kids when they played at friends houses and the resulting "attitude" was enough to ban it from our home permanently. I am sure there are many children who can pick it up and put it down.
