Tales from the riverbank. Friday, 2 May 2008. I've changed this again so that you can now leave comments - but please be wary of older comments as at least one of them is a virus. Don't bother reading them! New ones should be ok as I now have 'screening power'! Wow - - Success I think. Took a while of mucking about! Continue to enjoy your London Experience! Interested in forthcoming Result of Mayoral Election! Boris, I can't imagine, but people can be underestimated, don't you think? 2 May 2008 at 11:32.

Tales from the riverbank. Monday, 11 February 2008. Year of the rat. Yesterday was Chinese New Year – this year is the year of the rat. To mark the occasion, we went to China Town and caught the last few seconds of the last fireworks display in Leicester Square! On the subject of it being the year of the rat, the Observer yesterday reported that,. But it does at least have some diversity to it – which to me, is one of the most stimulating and enjoyable aspects of living in London. Wimbledon is ...Ended u...

Tales from the riverbank: June 2008

Tales from the riverbank. Tuesday, 3 June 2008. Pictures from the riverbank. Some interesting facts gleaned from a guided walk around London, exploring 'subterranean London', one of hundreds run by London Walks. The Thames used to be twice as wide as it currently is, before the Victoria and Albert Embankments were constructed in the late 1800s to enable the Underground to be built. Roman London existed 20 feet below today's London. More and more excavations are uncovering all kinds of hidden treasures.

Tales from the riverbank: December 2007
http://down-in-london-town.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Tales from the riverbank. Friday, 21 December 2007. Last weekend Kevin told me to wrap up and follow him - he'd planned an afternoon of surprise activities (the old romantic that he is). Then had a warming pint in the local boozer, which was as close to the Queen Vic as I've come across yet in London. I got the mulled wine while Kevin got the tickets for the Big Wheel and after a bit of a queue, we made our way up in nicely enclosed capsules for a slow meander round a 50m wheel. Tales from the riverbank. Friday, 28 September 2007. It looks like it's all just about sorted out at last - we're off to London next month! Kevin starts his new job on 15th, we've managed to get a flat sorted, and now we just need to pack and move (is that all! Our flat is just south of the Thames - literally within walking distance of London Bridge. It looks fabulous and we can't wait to move in - pictures are of the outside of the flat and the surrounding area. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tales from the riverbank: November 2007
http://down-in-london-town.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Tales from the riverbank. Friday, 23 November 2007. Tunnel under the Thames. Was miserable weather last Sunday but we persevered with our mission to be tourists here every weekend and went down the Thames to Greenwich on a lovely thing called the Thames Clipper. Bargain price with the good old Oystercard and a very comfortable way to travel. Not too busy though and an interesting exhibition about Nelson, who I'd always been totally ignorant about. At least I'm vaguely informed now. Went to National Portr...

Tales from the riverbank: Summertime and the living is easy
http://down-in-london-town.blogspot.com/2008/05/summertime-and-living-is-easy.html
Tales from the riverbank. Sunday, 11 May 2008. Summertime and the living is easy. It's been scorching in London for about the past week. Our flat has turned into a sauna and the windows are now wide open at every given opportunity. I'm not complaining at all - it's gorgeous. I even managed to do a bit of work sitting on the bench in the little square outside our flat this week, which was fabulous. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
