There have been no reports of glistening with Avansee since launch in 2007. Graphs comparing the rates and severity of glistenings seen with the Avansee lens from Kowa, to the AcrySof and AF-1 lenses. In a four-year observational study, no glistening was reported with Avansee, whilst both AcrySof and AF-1 were associated with some degree of glistening in the majority of their patients. AF-1 n=12 (22 eyes). Adapted from data provided by I Ota. The number of adverse events reported with Avansee is low.

Successful presentation at DOC 2015. As part of this year’s DOC congress in Leipzig, Kowa Pharmaceutical Europe demonstrated the new preloaded Kowa AvanseePreset S-Type IOL system. In eight different WetLabs more than 75 ophthalmic surgeons made use of the opportunity to test the fully preloaded shooter system. The Kowa Avensee intraocular lens was the most frequently-used lens during the WetLabs, with attendees impressed by its easy handling and all aspects of the lens’ performance.
