Awkward Eats: July 2011
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Father's Office can S a million D's [Culver City]. Because Vivian and I are on opposite coasts most of the time, we dont get to share meals very often. (We do however keep each other updated on our current and upcoming meals to a potentially weird extent.) When Vivian came home for a couple of weeks in June, we were finally able to meet up and share a meal at Fathers Office. Unfortunately, that meal was balls. My friend ...

Awkward Eats: August 2010
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Wednesday, August 18, 2010. While Andi preps her Tijuana food post, I thought I'd tide you readers over with a short review on this burger/sandwich place called Sloopy's. The name is odd, but considering you're in a beachy city like Manhattan, I suppose it's fitting. The restaurant is in a half open/half closed area. Only the sides of the restaurant/kitchen is fully roofed off. The rest is only partially, letting plenty of sunshine and fr...Get r...

Awkward Eats: November 2010
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Sunday, November 7, 2010. I've come to the conclusion that, even though Bill Esparza may think I have "blogger chops" when it comes to eating, I am not so cut out for the actual blogging thing. But it doesn't feel right to bow out without first posting about Tijuana. I started reading Bill's blog, Street Gourmet LA. So when Abby of Pleasure Palate. I had three items here: an al pastor taco, a cabeza taco, and a mulita, which is somewhere between ...

Awkward Eats: Tijuana [Part 2]
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2010/11/tijuana-part-2.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Sunday, February 27, 2011. Our first day in Tijuana had exceeded my already high expectations. But the second day? It was, to borrow a phrase from Teddy Roosevelt, "just constant epic awesomeness". We started the day at El Mazateño for seafood tacos. As good a breakfast as I can imagine. Like the escabeche at Tacos Salceados, this complimentary broth had a lot more depth of flavor than you would expect from something so non-central to the meal.

Awkward Eats: April 2010
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Hey remember that time when this blog existed? I should stop being a lazy food blogger and post to the 2 readers who still visit! This was something I made with a few friends about three months ago. One of my loves is Nutella. And I can eat it in anything. I found this cupcake recipe through my friend Angela, who also shares my love of Nutella. So here we go, awkward photos (because phone-camera quality is awkward?

Awkward Eats: Parked: Food Truck Rally
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2011/08/parked-food-truck-rally.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Sunday, August 21, 2011. Parked: Food Truck Rally. I don't know if there is a better way of spending your Saturday than going to a food truck festival. With a friend who is equally in love with food as you are. You mean, I don't have to track these trucks down using Twitter and Midtown Lunch? You mean, they are all converging in one spot and I can have anything I want all in one place? Barbequed meats on tacos) and Gorilla Cheese. Fancy, gourmet ...

Awkward Eats: Father's Office can S a million D's [Culver City]
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2011/07/fathers-office-can-s-million-ds-culver.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Father's Office can S a million D's [Culver City]. Frankly, we don't get it. Aside from the overly caramelized onions, the burger was bland. Not only was the patty conspicuously non-beefy, the texture was mushy and unappealing. For us, burgers are all about the beef, and no magical combination of toppings could make up for FO's bland, mushy patty. It seems like we're the only two people who didn't like it. Not only do pe...

Showering the Doublemint Twins | Quizzical Creatures
https://quizzicalcreatures.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/doublemint
Showering the Doublemint Twins. March 20, 2012 in Party Ideas and Celebrations. The world’s crawling with them! Babies and mommies-to-be have been hot topics lately, and I can’t wait to meet all the newly minted 2012 editions. Earlier this month, Jirat and I threw a baby shower for a friend who’s expecting twins (and who has really been into the color mint). Party favors included mugs with peppermint tea for the ladies…. 8230;and giant heart crayons for the kiddies! I made sherbet-y bunting…. Ode to Liqu...

Awkward Eats: Foreign & Domestic [Austin, TX]
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2011/11/foreign-domestic-austin-tx.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Foreign and Domestic [Austin, TX]. And without further ado, food photos. Appetizer: Crispy beef tongue. So tender and juicy on the inside and only mildly crispy on the outside (that's a good thing! The arugula and horseradish added some interesting flavors but I could happily have just eaten the beef by itself. Braised waygu beef with potato butter, tomato jam, and poached veggies. Vital Farms duck fat fried chicken.

Awkward Eats: June 2010
http://awkwardeats.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
We love to eat. We are awkward. We want to be your friend. Thursday, June 17, 2010. Summer is all about refreshing baked goods, I believe. Lemon-y things are no exception. For a dinner party last week, I decided to re-appropriate a lemon bar recipe and turn it into a pie. Main reason being I don't have a deep enough baking pan but really, it's easy to gobble up a dessert when it's in slice form! Adapted from Hostess with the Mostess. 1½ cups all-purpose flour. 189; cup confectioners’ sugar. 3 After check...
