Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Castor Oil Properties in Soap. Castor Oil in Soap. I thought it would be interesting to write about some of the oils I use in my soap. After making soap for over 10 years I have found that different oils contribute different qualities. Castor oil is derived from the seed of the plant. Friday, June 20, 2008. On Monday I took the cat in to see Dave. It was pretty bad news - Dave said the eye would have to be removed. Pyewacket had either gotten into a fight or his eye had definitely been exposed to something invasive. The options were to have the surgery to remove the eye or put Pyewacket to sleep. Seeing as money is no object to me (yeah, right! The moral of the story is: If you have a cat - do not let him outside! I just hope my cat, Pyewacket, will be okay! Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

My soap business is not only about selling soap but, more importantly, the relationships that you form with the other vendors. Panhia sells right next to me. She has 10 children - 6 girls and 4 boys! Monday, August 25, 2008. Another idea I've had rolling around my head is a Soap Sampler. I thought it woud be a good idea to offer a "Sampler Pack" that would include little 1-ounce sizes of my soaps. I made an "Herbal and Earthy" one and a "Fruit and Floral" one. Thursday, April 29, 2010. This is what my liquid soap looks like 2 weeks later! This is normal - it will probably take another few days before it is clear. This process is called sequestering. I added more glycerin and borax to my liquid soap after I tested the ph level. Sequestering comes from the Latin word, sesquestrare. Which means to remove, set aside or separate.
