my life on the road
tasteandsee: June 2014

My life on the road. A Little Bit About Me. Nothing New Under the Sun. I've been doing a lot of thinking over the past week or so. That's not unusual; sometimes too much of my life takes place inside my head. I started running just a little less than two years ago. Over the past eight months, my running career has been spotty, at best. Every time I try to get restarted, life gets in the way or I hurt myself and I stop almost as soon as I've started. So, I'm changing my goals:. As of now, I am commencing ...

My life on the road. A Little Bit About Me. Looking Back, Moving Forward. Perhaps I did this in the wrong order but, after my last post (and my unplanned but much needed absence from blogging for the past couple weeks), I thought it would be good to have a look back at what I did this year: a celebration of my accomplishments with maybe a little thought about how I got off course near in the last few months. Bibs and medals and shirts. OH MY! I ran 600 miles this year. Though I missed my goal of 750 ...

http://avoicecrying.blogspot.com/2013/03/official-race-recap-georgetown-ten.html
My life on the road. A Little Bit About Me. Official Race Recap: Georgetown Ten-Miler Edition. I ran nine miles last week. This week I ran (almost) ten. Back in November, when I had been running for barely three months, my friend, Katie, asked if I'd be interested in running this ten mile race in March. Having a tendency, once I've discovered something I enjoy, to go at it whole hog, I said, "I'll do it if you do it.". Well, we did it. today. I kept going, knowing that, only a week before, I'd run nine m...

Running Slowly with Kids: the life of a mother runner

Running Slowly with Kids. Motherhood, Marathoning, and Making it through the Day. Mother. marathoner. blogger. reader. View my complete profile. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. The life of a mother runner. I was so desperate to run this morning that I made my kids go outside to play in the front yard while I ran up and down the sidewalk. Over and. over. again. For about a mile and a half. I had to stop once to find the sidewalk chalk after my daughter got bored following me on her plasma car. Put that bat down!

Running Slowly with Kids. Motherhood, Marathoning, and Making it through the Day. Mother. marathoner. blogger. reader. View my complete profile. Monday, April 27, 2015. It takes a village. On Friday morning, my family and I are traveling from Georgia to Pennsylvania. On Saturday, we're going to a family wedding. From the wedding, we're heading to Ohio to stay at my in-laws and the next morning driving to Pittsburgh so that I can run my 8th marathon. And I couldn't be more thankful for my village. Previou...

I'm sorry this is a little late. I was feeling particularly lazy after Saturday's long run that took place in a billion percent humidity and I've been reading a string of good books recently so I got distracted. Happily establishing a life in Houghton. April 10, 2015. Well, today marks 35 weeks completed, five or so weeks to go. Will I have the energy and grace to love my older girls in the way that they will each uniquely need? How does one person mother three Little People at a time? Two experienced mothers stayed with me after the prayer and listened as I choked out my fears of not being able to be a good mom to more than one child at a time. I can’t tell you what exactly they said; five years later...And I d...

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer over the summer. She is the 4th woman in her family to battle this disease. Her mother and niece are survivors and her sister lost her fight. Australian Adventure: is it really April?
http://jethpear.blogspot.com/2010/04/is-it-really-april.html
Saturday, April 10, 2010. Is it really April? Well, March wasn't exactly "in like a lion and out like a lamb" at our house. Weather notwithstanding, it was more like "a lion in a decathalon of some sort" with church events, baby classes, hospital checkups, and work. (Ok, that was lame, but I tried. Moving on.). Anyway, that was a good trip. We took our time coming home and spent a couple of days in Port Macquarie, where we had the pleasure of wallabies playing in the backyard of our rented cabin/house.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010. This past weekend was our District Youth Retreat at the beach. We had a great time camping, and had the perfect weather for it (quite sunny and warm, perhaps a little chillier at night than we would like). Simon thoroughly enjoyed all the attention he received, and it was helpful to me to have many willing entertainers for him :). I had my first experience with meal planning and execution for over 30 people! Thursday, November 18, 2010. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. They're qu...

Previous post: running things in list form. Another Dam 50k 6/4/16.

A Voice Cries Out!
1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is over, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins. 3 A voice cries out: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. We appreciate your feedback and en...

My life on the road. A Little Bit About Me. That's about how long it took after my last blog post for me to break my shopping ban. As I was driving home, I decided to get McDonald's for dinner. And I didn't just stop with a meal, I also got a shamrock shake ($9.72). Then, on Saturday, I went to Michaels and bought a bunch of stencils and stamps. ($33.88). I literally sit in my car thinking, "I don't need to spend money this way. It's not going to make me feel better." Then I do it, anyway. Th...Anyway, i...

A Voice Crying Out In The Wilderness
A Voice Crying Out In The Wilderness. Friday, March 12, 2010. The Jesus We Think We Know - - Thoughts On John 2. What is your "image" of Jesus? What is your mental picture of what Jesus was like during his earthly ministry? How he acted, how he related to people, what his personality was like? So it is interesting that near the beginning of John's Gospel , that in chapter 2 we run into a narrative about a wedding that we do not find in the other three Gospels. Are we surprised to find Jesus attending...
