Tanzania covers some 973,000 square km's and has a population of around 30 million, with it's commercial capital Dar es Salaam on the East coast. Due to the rural nature of the country (76% of the population are classified and rural) resources of all kinds are spread thinly, if available at all. Population with access to safe water is 38% and population with access to health services is around 42%. Clearly this is well below European expectations and an area of activity for AvRICA.

Over the west ridge of Kilimanjaro. In my opinion this has to be one of the most rewarding flying jobs possible. Before long, I found myself helping out in the front office of a Cessna C208 Grand Caravan dropping off doctors and supplies all over East Africa. Quite different from anything else I had flown the 'Van' is not as agile ( nor as confined! Landings.
