October 8, 2012. I receive many letters of support each week and I appreciate each and every one. This writer gave me permission to reprint her story of “recovery” from natural parenting ideology. Hello, Dr. Amy. I am a reader of your blog. I have been reading for 4 months now. I wanted to share a story that I was ashamed to write until now. I gave birth 4 months ago and I believed in all this false ideology from the natural birth/attachment parenting groups. From 4 am to almost noon I screamed and faint...

A celebration of being just barely good enough. The connection between poor labour analgesia and PTSD. May 14, 2013. Middot; by theadequatemother. Middot; in Anesthesiology. Middot; 12 Comments. I don’t know about you (or your partners) but for me the process of becoming a mother was…well…. Is probably the best word I have to describe it. The immediate postpartum period was a time when my most overwhelming feeling was one of abandonment and that. No one was taking care of me. American Friends of Tel Aviv.

Just what we need, another old white male “mansplaining” childbirth to us women. June 18, 2013. Just what we need, another old white male “mansplaining” childbirth to us women. A new article about Dr. Michel Odent has me pondering an interesting phenomenon. Have you ever noticed that it is old white men who feel they must “mansplain” birth to us womenfolk? What is “mansplaining”? He was followed by a string of childbirth mansplainers:. Robert Bradley (“Husband Coached Childbirth”). 8230; [M]illennia of e...

A celebration of being just barely good enough. Labour day / wedding day? June 21, 2013. Middot; by theadequatemother. Middot; in birth. Middot; 9 Comments. Whenever I’ve settled myself, in a semi reclined position, toddler sleeping, with a fashion magazine and a glass of something delicious (which isn’t very often, lets be honest given the amount of dishes and laundry and other mundane household tasks that are created by one adult, one toddler, another adult that eats. Advertising works well when you ca...

Have lactivists lost their minds? August 10, 2015. Have lactivists lost their minds? I wasn’t planning to write about breastfeeding today. I thought I had temporarily exhausted the topic. New mothers are being warned that feeding their babies formula is worse than breastfeeding after a few drinks. Gold Coast midwife Amanda ...

Monday, November 9, 2009. My first post on 385 North. I have wanted to start a second blog about my creative side. I love photography, making hair bows, decorating my house the list goes on and on. My first creative project was a handwritten name back stitched on to fabric. These are pictures of my kids handwriting. I gave these as a Christmas gift to my MIL. What I did was:. 1 Had my kids write there names down on a piece of paper. 2 I transferred that on to some wash away interfacing. Way to go Danette!

http://danikatedesigns.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-day-today.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. It was one of those days, that reminds me why I stay home and don't go anywhere with Josh and Azalea. First off I love these kids, I love seeing how they play together. They play, scheme, jump off things. They really don't fight. Today was no exception. Finally I am back in my van. We get to the bank, Azalea once again has her shoes off. It is slightly raining and you know what I did I told her just to hurry and run to the door. We were really close to it. Josh usually is joini...
