Got a great email from the friendly Nils Helge Lorentzen this evening with the information regarding the ringed Black-headed Gull I found up at Townhill Loch, Fife area on the 15th February whilst dropping in on the Ring-billed Gull (see here. Wednesday, 14 May 2014. The rest of the trip we focussed our birding around the Yotvata and KM20 areas, and picked up plenty of good birds, and a noticeable increase of migrants:. Undoubtedly my best find of the trip was this Black Bush robin, initially found early morning at the Arabian warbler site near Yotvata where a few people got on to it. Sunday, 14 October 2012. A few photo's I had of an acro at Whitby yesterday. It fed almost exclusively in long grass and low bramble, only occasionally popping up into low branches of elderberries. Monday, 23 March 2015. Peregrine - Wigeon- Buzzard epic. Peregrine v Wigeon v Buzzard. Amazing view of a Peregrine that has caught a drake Wigeon just outside Swantail Hide at Wheldrake Ings yesterday afternoon. The Wigeon valiantly tried to escape, being saved by the arrival of a local Buzzard which seemed to really enrage the falcon, which left it's half drowned meal and started mobbing the larger raptor. Saturday, 16 May 2015. Finally meeting the Duke. Today, Sol and me got the chance to hook up with Rich and Dan and try not just for Dukes, but Pearl-bordered Fritillaries, two butterflies I have never seen. Even Sol was excited! Some very nice Early Purple Orchids nearby too. The top three photos below are of a female (I think! And the bottom two of a darker male (again, I think! Sol leading Rich and Dan astray. Sunday, 30 November 2014. Top weekend of excessive booze celebrating in Suffolk for ex-pat Yorkshire birder Dunc's 40th Birthday. Nipped out with Rich and Gaynor to have a look at Westleton Heath on Saturday morning where we soon found flitty and skulky Dartford Warblers.
