I can’t believe summer is over, school is starting again, and we are going to read the whole Bible this semester! I attended religious schools since I was 2 (both Protestant and Catholic), so I have a fairly good grasp on the Bible. The poem seems to loosely follow the story, but it just sort of picks out a few parts. After looking over my notes from last Thursday’s class, a thought came to me – why does it seem that numbers are so important in the Bible? Noah story: it rained for forty days and nights. Israelites wandered in the desert for forty years. Jesus was in the desert for forty days. There are 10 commandments. There were 10 plagues. Jacob had 12 sons. Jesus had 12 Apostles. There were three crosses at Golgotha.
