Thursday, August 11, 2005. You're viewing the blog I kept for my month-long study abroad excursion to the United Kingdom, that began on 7 July 2005 and concluded on 8 August. You can find photos and such silly things like that by looking at the archive, or clicking on the subject titles seen on the right-hand side. In the future, I'll probably use this whenever I take a special trip to a new place or whatever. Posted by Marion M. @ 4:14 PM. Tuesday, August 09, 2005. It was just TOO sweet. Liz, Eric, Paul...

Friday, November 03, 2006. Well, Christmas has arrived in London, and by "arrived" I mean that all the shops and cafes (cough, Starbucks, cough) are all decked out. Did you know that the Starbucks here make mini mince pies during the season? I don't even know what exactly a mince pie is, but I plan on acquiring some as Starbucks' are evidently "award winning", and it's 1.50 takeaway for 4 of them. Anyway, this week has been pretty good- basically recovering from last weekend! So Halloween was pretty fun,...

Thursday, July 21, 2005. This definitely is "interesting". Well folks, I'm fine fine fine. Don't worry about me! This morning I went to the Tower of London (very cool place), and we took the District line back to the tube nearest Harrods because I had to go there for a class. People were weirdly paranoid on it, and we heard them announce closings of some lines, but didn't think anything of it. Posted by Marion M. @ 6:07 PM. Wednesday, July 20, 2005. Well it's been a nice day. Life in the EU class was goi...

Friday, July 29, 2005. Let's see. "Les Miserables" was AMAZING. Seriously. And Mom, please quit bothering me about Mary Poppins . I'm really going to try and go, alright? Anyway, so we left London at 6AM to take the Eurostar to Paris. We got lunch at the train station, and embarked on a three hour bus tour of the town. It's quite pretty and I really liked it at first. Unfortunately, the top deck was too crowded but we went on the second level, and stayed up there a long time! Thursday, July 28, 2005.

What is your country’s position on ratifying the EU constitution? If it already ratified, what was the vote? If not, what is the likely outcome of the vote? Was it by referendum, legislative vote, or both? What were/are the main concerns regarding ratification? Any particular opposition parties? BBC News: Are You Bewildered by EU Row? Saturday, July 16, 2005. Right right, first off- if I misspell words that I normally don't, or you see strange spaces, it is because I am either typing this in a hurry because of the unsecure wireless networks, or that I'm in a ghetto internet cafe and the keyboards here are weird. THAT said, it's been QUITE busy these past few days. The train ride was fun- Virgin makes records, planes, phones, and now trains. So for the first two hours, we were free to roam around the city. I liked this place alot!

Wednesday, November 08, 2006. I think I've been to Starbucks this entire week. NOT buying drinks, mind you, but taking advantage of the last 4 days of my t-mobile subscription. I'm not sure if I'm going to renew it. I might wait a couple of weeks so that it runs out right before I leave town. So what've I been up to this past week? Then saw "The Queen". Fabulous film, absolutely fabulous. I'm not sure if it's out back home, but everyone should really try and see it. A few photos from the occasion:. Monda...

Thursday, November 16, 2006. Very Long and Overdue Entry. So much has happened since the past entry! And by so much, I mainly mean two big events to which I shall detail below about. So these are long, but worth reading because, obviously, you’re SO interested in my life. Anyway, so we arrived around noon in Brussels time. And who do we see about 2 minutes after we disembark the train? None other than Eleanor Washburn! But I’m off track. Once we dropped off our belongings at the house, we headed to d...

Thursday, April 19, 2012. Watson and The Shark (1778). Anyone who knows me well enough could probably tell you that Watson and the Shark. He did use a real shark after all.) Anyways you can't really blame Copley for not having a perfect understanding of the anatomy of a shark. Real zoology was still in a nascent stage in 1778 when he painted it and Darwin's On the Origin of the Species. The Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living. An Awfully Big Blog Adventure

Friday, 16 March 2018. A Little Light Relief by Claire Fayers. We’re halfway through World Book Month. Halfway through school visits, through travel, admin, preparation and loads of exhausting fun with kids. It’s time we gave ourselves a break and as I’m a keen game player, I thought I’d suggest a few games that should appeal to authors. Once Upon a Time. The players all receive one story ending card and a hand of cards depicting common fairytale elements. If the thought of racing multiple storytellers t...
