The Good Life: February 2015
http://jo-thegoodlife.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Charting the progress on my allotment in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Friday, 27 February 2015. Back in 2013 I treated myself to a new plant each month. I followed one of Geoff Hamilton's tips, buying a plant in flower each month of the year so that I'd have something blooming in the garden the whole year round. It has increased in size though, and as you can see, it's just starting to bud up. It should have a mass of flowers given time. Its flowers are produced in late winter and early spring, so it sounds as...

Charting the progress on my allotment in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Monday, 29 June 2015. Photo Medley - June. It's hard to believe that it's time again for my monthly photo medley, half the year's gone already. So, on with this month's round up of photos. I bought a foxglove last year from a local plant sale. At the beginning of the month it was just starting to come in to flower. The lake always looks so tranquil with the weeping willows draping over it. Irises at Harlow Carr. I love this seahorse. My pota...

Charting the progress on my allotment in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Saturday, 4 July 2015. In 2013 I followed the late Geoff Hamilton's advice and visited a garden centre or nursery each month of the year with a view to buying a plant in flower. Lucy's Cottage: Happy Halloween Everyone
http://lucys-cottage.blogspot.com/2015/10/happy-halloween-everyone.html
Saturday, 31 October 2015. Fire lit, pumpkin carved, peppermint tea steeping and a good book to read :). Apart from walking the dogs and carving pumpkins (I did one for our friends too), I've done NOTHING today. I feel guilty, but less tired as a result. Tonight we're having food from the freezer for our dinner and I'm going to do some warm spiced apple juice as neither of us wants to drink alcohol this evening. The fire is roaring and I'm ready to hibernate! Happy Halloween everyone,. Days of Quiet Refl...

The Good Life: May 2015
http://jo-thegoodlife.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Charting the progress on my allotment in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Saturday, 30 May 2015. Photo Medley - May. It's time for this month's round up of photos, again, no particular theme here. A stone lion at Harlow Carr. Two lions guard six Doric columns which were originally from the Cheltenham Spa Rooms in Harrogate and were donated to Harlow Carr by the Yorkshire Archaeological Society in the 1960's. This is the site where the main entrance to the gardens used to be. Poppy bud starting to open. I hope you'...

Gardening in a small space. Hoping for the best but fearing the worst. September 1, 2013. When we left for our holiday last Saturday, the cat was packed off to a cattery and I’d done all I could to prepare the garden for us not to be around. By Sunday evening I was suffering from separation anxiety! We spent our week in Somerset, near Burnham on Sea in a lodge on a farm. If I share some photos, I can write less. The view from our kitchen window. Oh well, back to normality. September 1, 2013 at 12:54 pm.

Gardening in a small space. Monthly Archives: September, 2013. No shortage of tomatoes. September 29, 2013. Well, I’m really just down to my last tomatoes in the garden which are green which I think I will probably pick and decide what to do with over the next few days, either chutney or ripen them indoors. Put the oven on at about 100 oC, nice and low. Cut a “v” to remove the centre. This is where a good deal of patience helps. dry them for 10-12 hours! Turn the tomatoes over about half way through.

Lucy's Cottage: November 2015
http://lucys-cottage.blogspot.com/2015_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 24 November 2015. One Cold November Day. This morning we wrapped up warm and took the dogs to Cod Beck Reservoir at Osmotherley - one of their favourite spots. While we shivered in the wind the dogs swam in the freezing cold water and had a ball of a time. It was good to breathe in the fresh air, smell the damp pine needles and watch the geese swimming and trying to avoid the dogs! Below are some pictures of our garden which I took this morning. The Autumn-flowering "mums" are glorious:). Today ...
