Gardening in a small space. Hoping for the best but fearing the worst. September 1, 2013. When we left for our holiday last Saturday, the cat was packed off to a cattery and I’d done all I could to prepare the garden for us not to be around. By Sunday evening I was suffering from separation anxiety! We spent our week in Somerset, near Burnham on Sea in a lodge on a farm. If I share some photos, I can write less. The view from our kitchen window. Oh well, back to normality. September 1, 2013 at 12:54 pm.

Gardening in a small space. Monthly Archives: September, 2013. No shortage of tomatoes. September 29, 2013. Well, I’m really just down to my last tomatoes in the garden which are green which I think I will probably pick and decide what to do with over the next few days, either chutney or ripen them indoors. Put the oven on at about 100 oC, nice and low. Cut a “v” to remove the centre. This is where a good deal of patience helps. dry them for 10-12 hours! Turn the tomatoes over about half way through.

K van Kneuterig: strawberry rhubarb jam
http://kvankneuterig.blogspot.com/2015/07/strawberry-rhubarb-jam.html
A Blog about the simple things in life. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Recently I made the first jam of this year's produce. The rhubarb at my allotment did very well this year; I harvested about 2 kilograms in total! With a part of it and some shop bought strawberries (sorry for cheating a bit there) I brew one of my favorite jams. Onlngs heb ik de eerste jam van het jaar met opbrengst van mijn tuintje gemaakt. De rabarber deed het dit jaar heel goed; ik heb in totaal wel 2 kilo kunnen oogsten!

A Blog about the simple things in life. Thursday, July 17, 2014. Such a tough life. Wat 'n zwaar leven. Saturday, July 5, 2014. I am not the worlds biggest football- fan, but I do show my support. Some patriotic 'loom' bracelets and red-white-blue and orange nailpolish to finish it off. Let's see if it brings luck to the Dutch team tonight. Ik ben niet 's-wereld's grootste voetbal fan, maar ik support oranje wel. Misschien brengt het Oranje geluk vanavond. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A woman of the soil.

Gardening in a small space. August 22, 2013. I’ve been busy with the kids some have had to grab a little time here and there each day to keep on top of things and generally get an idea of jobs I need to do. I’ve cut back the strawberry plants quite hard and cleared weeds and waste. Planted up, the Mexican tree spinach and Aquilegia. I always pile up cuttings and leave them for a day or two, it gives any bugs the opportunity to crawl away and find new homes. August 23, 2013 at 5:21 pm. Thank you for visit...

Gardening in a small space. October 6, 2013. The weather today was glorious, I pottered in the garden in a t-shirt. Washing drying on the line and windows all fully open letting out the pungency of the last batch of chutney bubbling away on the stove. A good day! So I’ve been doing some more jobs to prepare for the coming months. I am one step ahead of the squirrels this year, my pots that have been planted up with Spring bulbs are now nice and secure un some netting. Apparently the slugs and snails don&...

the green lady: Loving willow
http://thegreenladyhastings.blogspot.com/2012/03/loving-willow.html
Thursday, March 29, 2012. I found this recipe on the Deep Green Permaculture website:. How to Make “Willow Water”. Collect young first-year twigs and stems of any of willow (Salix spp.) species, these have green or yellow bark. Don’t use the older growth that has brown or gray bark. Remove all the leaves, these are not used. Don’t waste good green material though, compost the leaves or throw them in the garden as mulch. Take the twigs and cut them up into short pieces around 1" (2.5cm) long. Subscribe to...
