Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Ah yes, the anxiety related to playdates…can they do the same activity? What can they play when E has trouble getting around? Will she get teased? Can she have a “normal” playtime when I am (literally) such a close, hulking presence (but necessary so she doesn’t fall on her face)? Will people ask E to play with them? What happens when the neighborhood kids are in a close knit group, that E isn’t in b/c of her mobility problems? Why are her eyes like that?

Tuesday, June 16, 2009. After a while Elena wanted to use the Big Potty, but she wouldn’t tell us when she needed to go. We ditched the floor potty and bought several types of seats that fit on the commode (HERE. Elena was potty trained before SDR, but we weren’t sure if there would be setbacks post-op. There were none. The surgery helped positioning immensely, as it relieved tone in her legs and helped her realize her torso and legs could be moved separately. June 17, 2009 at 4:58 PM.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Recently, with the new changes in her AFOs, E's right foot in particular gets a little swollen from the pressure of her braces.
