Just another WordPress.com site. My Greetings to You! Newer posts →. December 4, 2015. It was the cutest little train. With cardboard trestles painted to look like stonework, the track could be laid out in a figure eight pattern allowing the train to go over and under itself. We played with that Christmas gift by the hour when we were little children. It was exactly what we wanted. How did our parents know that three little boys would have so much fun with this gift? Blessing added to unexpected blessing.

Birthdays are interesting events; especially when of the milestone variety. They mark the annual passage of time. However, at a marker such as the one I just passed (65! They cause us to ask, ‘where have so many years gone? How quickly life passes. The Psalmist of the Bible warned us of this in Ps. 103:15:. Again the Psalmist s...

Just another WordPress.com site. My Greetings to You! A Family of Friends (April 2015). Measuring My Years (June 2015) →. Mothers and Grandmothers (May 2015). May 9, 2015. A mother’s shaping and nurturing role is paramount. A prime biblical example is that of the young man Timothy who was spiritually influenced by his mother and grandmother. The Apostle Paul said Timothy had. A sincere faith, which first lived in his grandmother Lois and in his mother Eunice. Although I grew up in southern Ontario, I hav...

Busy Bees – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/bumblebee
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. Spent quite some time gaining these images, showing the bee at work; you can see what a challenge it proved to be, from the gallery below: the bees move so busily and rapidly that between composing an image and pressing the shutter, they have often movedsometimes right out of the shot altogether; in the final shot of the series, I actually gave up chasing them around and photographed the flower instead! National Botanic Garden Wales, Carmarthenshire. No, no, no!
Up with the lark – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2013/03/31/skylark
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. Up with the lark. By getting up “with the lark” yesterday, I was rewarded by encountering this skylark, who, after providing a beautiful rendition of his song, happily allowed me to get in closer and closer, until I got a near “perfect” shot. One of the final photographs. Another look at the skylark. A beautiful spring morning. Sand bar, adjacent to Lliedi estuary, nr. North Dock, Llanelli. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. We will remember them. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. Robin – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2011/01/09/robin
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. This attentive pose was one of several images of this friendly robin, captured on a sunny, winter’s day spent at Wales National Wetlands Centre, as he gamely sat for his portrait; unsurprising, the robin’s charm made this a clear winner from amongst a raft of photos. Taken that day and later exposed to a vote by the whole family! Llanelli WWT Winter, 2010 Canon G9. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). A montage of coastal birds – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2013/05/11/a-montage-of-coastal-birds
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. A montage of coastal birds. A montage of coastal birds, digitally captured on a beautiful early spring morning, near the Lliedi estuary, including. Stunningly-camouflaged ringed plovers, a red-breasted merganser “passing the time of day” with a curlew, a teal duck, a redshank, a hunting kestrel and another look at the skylark, featured on another post. A small colony of plover, camouflaged amongst the shore rocks. More evidence of excellent plover camouflage!
Little egrets – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2013/09/06/from-the-archives-little-egrets
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. After stamping around in wetland mud, up to my knees at times, I got this rather nice image of an egret in flight. That was last spring! Autumn on the way, some of the waders will be returning soon and time to get “the gear” out again and source a decent pair of Wellington boots! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Catkin – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2011/02/11/catkin
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. On a gentle stroll around Colwick Park, with friends Bob and Bronek, the sunlight’s illumination of this catkin was captured using a macro lens setting, which, as well as enlarging the subject, pleasingly provides a significant differential focus, effectively lifting the catkin away from the background of the park’s lake and grasslands. Moorhen – Much Ado About Nothing
https://johnbc.wordpress.com/2013/06/05/moorhen
Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. Spotted this serene-looking moorhen. While hoping to spot a reed warbler, heard on previous occasion. The day got better: I spotted an otter. First in the water and then in a lair, created by an inspection pit for an outflow from a lake. Common Moorhen further information and images, from ARKive. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Stonechat – Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. Looking out over the Irish Sea, taken in April, 2012, at. Looking out to sea. From a different perch. The images aren’t quite sharp: they were taken on what was a typical, Welsh, coastal, blustery day; the stonechat was upwind and downhill, so the wind was in my eyes and getting closer was practically impossible because of the dense gorse bushes. Stonechat further information and images, from ARKive. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). April 17, 2013. Roger H...
Footsteps in the sand – Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing. Not the play 🌻. Footsteps in the sand. In the year 2013, when autumn was the gift that kept on giving, Cefn Sidan was bathed in sunshine, but otherwise deserted, enabling me to obtain this image of a set of footprints in the sand.
