Remembrance 2004
http://www.bcgreen.com/comments/2004/remembrance.html
I watch it on the telly in an empty sort of way. For me November 'leventh is an hollow kind of day. I've never lost my buddies in a vicious firefight. Or wondered if I'd have the parts to see the morning light. I've never been in battle, picked up friend's body parts. Remembrance day just doesn't touch the soft bits of my heart. I watch a veteran fight to hold the dam against his tear. My mother never nervously hushed back my cries of fear. For me the wars are distant. They're safely far away.

Letter submited to US commission on ballot machines ( voting@nist.gov. Sept 21, 2004. An electoral system that provides legal certainty is useless if it does not also provide moral certainty - i.e. that the count delivered is as close as possible to the count of votes actually cast. What's Wrong with Being Human?

Most of the time information was lost for a reason; in the case of most of. The photos with people's faces, the sharpening effect is not flattering to. Check out http:/ (redacted). It's a photo of I took of myself [.] To counter the waxy. Smoothness of the smoothening filter, I used the film grain filter. I. Think it helps. Once again, more information lost (colour, and there's. Added noise) but ironically it looks better. It's a picture that would fit real nice in Pleasantville. Or The Truman Show.

Raster Eggs and Voting Machines

Easter Eggs and Voting achines. Letter submited to US commission on ballot machines ( voting@nist.gov. Sept 18, 2004. See also my other submission on this. Ballot Certanties. First, I will start with a general description of 'easter eggs':. An architectural equivalent to easter eggs would be the stereotypical 'secret passage', where you have to press on two seemingly innocuous panels, and/or pull on a statue to cause the door to open. In the Application Launcher, tap in the upper right menu and select Sy...

Bill Gates considers Benjamin Franklin 'a communist'?
http://www.bcgreen.com/comments/2005/benjamin.html
Does Bill Gates consider Benjamin Franklin a 'communist'? I was just reading the history of Benjamin. Having made many inventions (including the lightning rod, bifocals, Franklin stove, medical instruments, odometer, etc.), he actively refused to patent them. Believing that they were best left to the good of his community. Given both his actions and his words, I believe that, were he alive today, Franklin would be firmly on the side of the FLOSS community in the debate on so-called intelectual property.

Real Friends Say No
http://www.bcgreen.com/comments/friends_say_no.html
Real Friends Say No. Reply to a slashdot article. How naive. France's Jacques Chirac, Germany's Gerhard Schroeder, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and other Iraq oil-for-food scam artists don't want America to succeed. Yes - men are not friends. They are fawning parasites hoping to get a free ride on your coattails. If you're about to walk into what I'm sure. If before I stop walking, I say to you (multiple times) " don't go there, it's a frikin minefield! If I think a friend is embarked on a noble but...

Why George Bush must 'die'

WHy George Bush Must Die. Politically, not physically). In response to a slashdot article. If you're genuinely interested in knowing what's really happening in the world. Look to the world for your news, not just media in the US. Media outlets in other countries are not afraid to be critical of the US in their everyday reporting. With the internet, it's easy to look up news from other countries. Just read the Aussie. News (reg. required, sorry). But had serious distrust for the US Government. When Bush I...

Re: Khomeini and Iran
http://www.bcgreen.com/comments/on-iran.html
In response to a Slashdot article. Just so you know. This is a pet peeve of mine - ever since I realized (with shock and dismay) that the US press was far from being balanced fair and open about the Iran Hostage Taking. I spent weeks. Researching the various views on what was going on there from as many sources as I could possibly hunt down, and kept it up on a lower level for months beyond that. Brutality on the Shah's part). All along, they had simply been asking for an apology ¹. When The Shah entered...
