Tim Bailey: A Memory. The scene is an Applebee’s on a Sunday night. A table of twenty or more is as loud as one would expect. Laughs and stories abound. The waitress reaches one patron, named Aaron, to take his order. “Oh, I’m not getting anything.”. The waitress moves on, but the man named Tim across the table from Aaron does not. Tim leans over to Aaron and says, “Are you hungry? February 11, 2013. I don’t have anything to add. Why for one person and not another? Does a good God even exist? I don’t cla...

New Lee Chapel Rendering Revealed or: This Is NOT a Wedding Chapel. Lee University is building another chapel building, ladies and gentlemen. This chapel will be located in Ocoee Street Park, the field adjacent to the Dixon Center and the Office of Admissions. This park is currently occupied by park benches; formerly, another antique house resembling the Admissions Office sat in this location. Not be held in the chapel; simply that weddings are not its sole purpose. In addition, the building will not hos...

A Whole New World: The Lee Chapel. In case you’ve been living under an academic rock for the last semester or two, Lee has been building a new chapel. Some of the details in that linked article may or may not still be true, but the basics are all there: there’s a chapel, it’s not built of red brick, and it’s still on the corner of Ocoee and 11th. Just the other day, I got the itch to see the inside of the chapel, given. First, a look at the outside at dusk, for posterity’s sake. Listen, I know that right...

I am one of millions. Though I am a Christian, I do not wish to take this opportunity to shake a Bible and say “Those dern’ kids.” It is, however, my hope that we will all hear from Steve Jobs again. I don’t have anything to add. Four years ago today, I posted a blog about my emergency room miracle experience after the Aurora Theater shooting. The post went viral, and created some controversy. Does God really do miracles? Why for one person and not another? Does a good God even exist? I don’t claim to have all the answers. But I saw the miracle with my own eyes. Thank you to those who have asked me to repost this story for a reminder: God is still at work. July 23, 2012. 1,737 more words. A Whole New...

Should Christians Listen to Secular Music? A Followup, Part I. Mentioned in a previous article. Has updated their original post. I can’t be bothered to write a rebuttal at the moment, but if I find the time and have a sudden intense desire for intellectual debasement, I will certainly write one later. October 21, 2011. Should Christians Listen to Secular Music? A Rebuttal. | Wordsmitherd
https://wordsmitherd.wordpress.com/2011/10/16/should-christians-listen-to-secular-music-a-rebuttal
Should Christians Listen to Secular Music? Recently came to my attention. Though [or perhaps because] I read it late in the evening, I was feeling particularly irascible and the article rubbed me the wrong way. This was mostly because it is sorely lacking in all logical merit. I have completely recopied the article here, and included my rebuttals in. Below each relevant paragraph. Should Christians Listen to Secular Music? I say yes. Let’s see why you disagree. Should Christians listen to it? Okay, at so...
