Sunday, November 13, 2011. The PIcture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Lets pretend that Basil symbolizes Dorian's conscience. How does Dorian's reaction to Basil Hallward mirror the reaction sinners have when their sins are pointed out? How does Dorian solve this problem? What keeps people from humbling themselves to admit mistakes? Have you ever had a bad experience with a friend who you confronted in love, but were attacked for being judgmental instead? How did you handle the situation?

Brian's Book Babble: October 2011

Sunday, October 30, 2011. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. The Bible states that bad company corrupts good morals (Proverbs 4:14-15). Do you believe that this is true, or do you believe that people look for friends who reflect and accept their inappropriate desires (i.e. they are already corrupt)? How do you justify your stance? Where do you think that Dorian Gray sits on the spectrum when he meets Lord Henry? Is he innocent, or is he looking for a reason to become corrupt? Jane Eyre (The Movie).

Babbling Brian's Reading Log: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak --- Pt. 7
http://babblingbriansrl.blogspot.com/2010/11/book-thief-by-markus-zusak-pt-7.html
Babbling Brian's Reading Log. Sunday, November 28, 2010. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - - Pt. 7. I was promised that the last hundred pages or so would really pick up and I would be impressed. I was also promised that I would need tissues. Once more, Markus Zusak sabotaged himself. The author's unyielding need to tell you what happens. It happens destroyed any type of suspense, unexpected grief, or excitement, from hitting me. Way to go, Markus! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am a college studen...

Babbling Brian's Reading Log. Monday, December 13, 2010. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson - - Pt. 3. First, I have to say that I actually couldn't put this book down. I had it finished three days ago, but I refrained from writing anything. I wanted to stay on track. This book was much better than the last one I read and I must say it blew a few of the others out of the water as well. I never saw the twist at the end. It was very surprising, but very real. I could see that happening. Awesome ...

Babbling Brian's Reading Log. Monday, December 6, 2010. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson - - Pt. 2. I think I know what is going on! I have a theory. I won't share, I don't want to ruin it. However, I will tell you whether or not I was right when I get to the revelation. And, I was right! It didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would, but now that it's happened, I'm not sure what the rest of the story deals with.Maybe the man who took her picture. But I still don't know about th...I am ...

Babbling Brian's Reading Log: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak --- Pt. 5
http://babblingbriansrl.blogspot.com/2010/11/book-thief-by-markus-zusak-pt-5.html
Babbling Brian's Reading Log. Monday, November 15, 2010. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - - Pt. 5. Rudy Steiner is a huge idiot; this appears to be the point of the first couple of sections. He just doesn't know when to buck up and act "right." I know that acting like a Nazi isn't necessarily right, but the alternative is hugely painful and humiliating. In the end, Rudy gets out of the situation, but it takes a while. And he nearly freezes to death. That's ridiculous. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Brian's Book Babble: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
http://babblingbrian.blogspot.com/2011/11/picture-of-dorian-gray-by-oscar-wilde.html
Wednesday, November 2, 2011. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. What do you think of Lord Henry? Is he toying with Dorian, or is he wanting to be a real friend? What does he say to make you think this? I think that Lord Henry is speaking from experience on the matter. Many of the claims and ideas that Harry throws around are from his life. He is one of the those people that have nothing to do, the "idle class". What is Harry doing with the time that he has free? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, November 9, 2011. The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde. Do we sin because we are imperfect and flawed, or do we sin because it's forbidden? What does Dorian think? If sin was no longer a sin, would we still be tempted to do it? Is there something in our nature that makes us play with fire? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Friday, September 24, 2010. Mexican Whiteboy by Matt de la Pena. Mexican Whiteboy Book Trailer. Pena has an amazing touch with creating characters and letting you in on their thoughts and personal lives. I have a tie on my favorite characters. Raul and Lolo are best friends but also rivals. They are so much fun when they pick on each other. The way Lolo speaks, with his broken English, makes his statements so much funnier. For more of my thoughts, check out . Thursday, November 24, 2011. 1984 by George Orwell. What does "Big Brother" mean to you? Big Brother is watching you." How can Big Brother be real? In what ways does Big Brother have access to you? If the government can access your cell phones, view you through laptop cameras, gaming boxes, and track you through personal gps devices (yes, they can really do all of these and more; spouses often track each other), do you feel like it's acceptable to spy on people? The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
