Baby Steps in Spring

Dave and I started the adoption process in March 2007. Almost two years later our dream has become a reality as we received the news that there was a baby boy for us in Vietnam. Throughout the long wait, reading other adoptive parents blogs has been incredibly informative, soothing to the soul and has kept the fires of hope burning. I wanted to share our journey with family, friends and others involved in the adoption process.

Baby Steps in Spring: June 2009

http://babystepsinspring.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Baby Steps in Spring. Tuesday, June 16, 2009. I also know how to get a seat at an airport waiting lounge area now - just mention to your partner that the baby's needs to be changed and start making preparations to do it there. People clear out really fast. Now I was just talking about changing his clothes but hey whatever works. Then came the car seat ordeal where Daniel screamed for another 1/2 hour during the car ride home with poor Oma and Opa. When we got home it was incredibly emotional. We ...Danie...

Baby Steps in Spring: Odds and Sods

http://babystepsinspring.blogspot.com/2009/06/odds-and-sods.html

Baby Steps in Spring. Monday, June 8, 2009. Later when I showed it to the taxi driver he said it was a protest against taxes or he said someone taking too much money. He also said that next time not to take the paper because they may be watching you. Interesting. Had dinner at The Sushi Bar. It was very good. Prices were close to Canadian but if you're craving sushi I would recomend it. At the gardens across the street behind Reunification Palace. June 9, 2009 at 5:20 PM. Hello Daniel, Lill and Dave,.

Baby Steps in Spring: May 2009

http://babystepsinspring.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Baby Steps in Spring. Sunday, May 31, 2009. First Day or G&R -3. The trip here was thankfully uneventful. We left our house at 4:30 Friday morning and arrived at our hotel on Saturday midnight. Something like 36 hours travel time but it passed fairly quickly. Japan Airlines was really good. The service was fantastic with lots of nice hot towels and beverages. Today we withdrew 4.8 million dongs from the bank. I just like how that sounds. Street food. Looks delicious but did not eat here. Throughout this ...

Baby Steps in Spring: Mekong Delta

http://babystepsinspring.blogspot.com/2009/06/mekong-delta.html

Baby Steps in Spring. Sunday, June 7, 2009. Daniel's teething seems to have magically gotten better. Yeah! He took 2 naps today. Tomorrow we're off to the Canadian Consulate to get his passport. Here are some pictures from the Mekong Delta region that Tra Vinh is in. Thankfully the Mekong Delta is not hilly. A market in a small town we passed through. A house. We saw houses that ranged from quite large to very small shacks. This one may be in the middle. June 7, 2009 at 5:52 PM. Daniel Simon Hoang Xuan.

Baby Steps in High Heels

Monday, May 18, 2015. It's hard to believe how big our little girl is getting. Last week, we celebrated her preschool graduation, and I could not possibly have a bigger mix of emotions. It's bittersweet to watch your baby grow up, but we have such joy and hope for her future. Even if, right now, all she wants to be when she grows up is a princess. Saturday, May 16, 2015. In defense of the princess . I loved it. Today, I am making a plea for the princess-loving girly girls. She always wants to wear the lo...

Baby Steps in High Heels

Tuesday, January 3, 2017. For the last few years, instead of making an official New Year’s Resolution, I have followed the lead of my friend Jolie at The Gray Matters. And selected a word. That would guide me through the upcoming year. Two years ago, the word was Move. I must have regained a bit too much momentum in 2015, and I was ready to quiet myself from the rushed pace I had been keeping. I worked hard on capturing that still. For another year. But it didn’t quite fit anymore. We have spent 3 years ...

Baby Steps In Stilettos

Baby Steps In Stilettos. Please join me on my journey through the motherhood. Sunday, December 11, 2011. So I spent a good part of the afternoon with a good friend of mine Pauline. I asked her for help in creating a therapy doll for my son. We made a "mommy doll" to simulate chemotherapy. She has a port and her own IV. Her hair is Velcro. Noticed but does not want to talk about it. This morning as I looked in the mirror the reflection took me by surprise. I spent 2 hours crying. I decided. To put my big ...
