Obama 強調當選後，將會採取措施保護美國製造業，為美國製造業創造更多職位，例如令人民幣升值(事實上，過去三年來，人民幣對美元己升值了20%)，以減少從中國入口，刺激美國出口。在寫給美國紡織業工會的信件中，提及會促使中國減少出口，在某些美國部門，更只會使用美國本土製造的紡織品。 再者，中國的大量出口到美國，對美國也不完全是壞事，中國所出口的產品，基本上都價廉物美，對於穏定美國物價，打擊通漲起到一定作用。 這些 Obama 很可能也是知道的，其所謂保護美國製造業的政策只是為了爭取選票罷了，John McCain 就老實得多，對於紡織工會的要求，不予回覆，因為他知道，...另一方面，類似製造業這種勞動密集型行業ᦁ...
