What one man can do, another can do" Anthony Hopkins The Edge. Mar 30, 2014. I've heard about waxed jute before as a tinder but I never got around to trying it until now. The process is quite simple and the only components needed are Paraffin wax and some jute twine. The paraffin can be purchased at most grocery stores and the jute I had was used to tie the feed sacks at the farm, or you can pick some up at most hardware stores. I used a pot of boiling water and a jar as a double boiler to melt the wax in.

Survival Mechanics and Field Repair. Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Multitool and Ranger Band: Improvised Clamp. I was repairing some wiring on our ancient ATV after it got chewed on by one of the cows. Every time I touched the wires with my soldering iron they would move. After several frustrating tries this idea came to me! I put a ranger band around the handles and they worked like a pair of improvised hemostats. I've used this more than a couple of times for various jobs when I needed a third hand. Nowaday...

Thoughts, ideas, failures and successes for all to see. Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Of a guy making a paracord bracelet that had a hidden fishing kit in it. Survival Mechanics and Field Repair. Saturday, March 15, 2014. Things soon to come! My other Blog Back Creek Bushcraft. Is how I got started, Bushcrafting and survival skills are my hobby but the truth is we all live in the real world.a mechanical world. Survival in my mind is much more than running off into the woods when or if something does happen. We all probably have our own small infrastructures or equipment to maintain or repair if it fails not to mention taking care of your family.
