Mack was born in Birmingham, AL on April 27th 1963. He attended public schools in Gadsden; during high school years, he excelled in the Electrical Training program offered by the Area Career Tech Center and was winner of the VICA competition his senior year. He graduated in 1981, winning a full scholarship to further studies at Alabama Technical College (now, Gadsden State Community College) and received an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
