Check out this video of the Lana, Theo, Zeke and Amani catching live sardines with their bare hands off the shore. We fried up a catch up fresh sardines for dinner along with chili, cheese, hot dogs and the ever popular Frito corn chips. No one complained of hunger that night! Our new test equipment for the trip was a Big Agnes sun shelter.

If you’re curious what kind of food options you can bring on a 4-day trip with 4 kids and 3 adults that will fill everyone happily and not break your back, take a look at my shopping list,. Which includes weights for some of it by the ounce/cup. We had the perfect amount of food, meaning nothing but a few snacks left in reserve when we reached the car. We had many other trip highlights.

Is one of the most ideal destinations for young kid backpackers. We hiked the PCT during early July, and it was a flat 2 mile hike with gorgeous views, springs gushing out of the mountain side and endless wildflowers.
