Firstly, I have spent decades and thousands upon untold thousands of hours researching, using, modifying, creating, and abusing outdoor gear and apparel. I have decided that if I write about these things those decades will automatically be reclassified from misspent to foresighted and noble . Thirdly, more important than the acclaim, I can tell my wife that all my trips are research oriented and vital to our future.
