Honey Bees in Central Florida: Time To Get The Honey
http://beeanonymous.blogspot.com/2009/05/there-is-nothing-more-fun-than-having.html
Quick Links to Local Pollen Count,My TBH, and my Garden. Local Pollen Chart (Updated May 1-09). My Garden (Updated March 15-08). My Tob Bar Hive (March 01, 2009). Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Time To Get The Honey. There is nothing more fun than having to put on a jacket and a veil and then starting up a fire in the smoker when the temperature in the shade is in the mid 80’s. I would prefer to rob the supers in a more natural way by using bee cones or Bee escapes. These methods take a day for the bees to...

http://woodycreekchicks.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Raising chicks in the high country of Colorado, keeping bees, gardening and trying to live more sustainable. Thursday, December 4, 2008. Called back to post. Suzanne has given me a nudge so here goes! Larry the chicken (and yes a female) is named after Larry our local wood carver and manager of our little art gallery here in Woody Creek. The locals call themselves woody creatures, strange I know. Not even a thank you for care taking her bird! Can you believe it? Strange, very strange. I was raised fo...

Raising chicks in the high country of Colorado, keeping bees, gardening and trying to live more sustainable. Thursday, November 29, 2012. We only lost 1! All the girls, except for the original downed hen, made it through the terrible ordeal. More good news, the bees have regained their composure as well. So we are all one big happy family again. What a disaster! I still feel so guilty about dropping the honey comb and starting the whole thing. The bees are mostly in. However, we have had some excepti...

Raising chicks in the high country of Colorado, keeping bees, gardening and trying to live more sustainable. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Umm Never thought in a million years that this would happen. I wanted to check on the brood levels and what was going on towards the front. I should have. The comb broke off the bar, it didn't seem like an abnormally hot day, but it just broke off. The bees freaked out. And a normally super mellow hive went HOT. On me faster than anything I had ever seen before EVER.

We have been enjoying peaches, apples and pe...I kno...
