Backyard Jungle Art

Friday, August 7, 2015. Nonchalance in the Garden. I'm a bit of a nonchalant gardener. I have messy borders, some things are a bit overgrown, and overall it's a rather raffish looking garden - but I like to think it has a certain roguish charm. This is my interpretation of it. I'd say it's in a slightly abstract sort of way. I used watercolors and India Ink on a 5" x 7" multimedia paper. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. They'd be cheap and fun and summery. Backyard Jungle Art: Happy Summer Solstice!

http://www.backyardjungleart.blogspot.com/2015/06/happy-summer-solstice.html

Go to Your Studio and Make Stuff" Fred Babb. Friday, June 19, 2015. Summer Solstice, also known as Litha is about giving thanks and honoring all the abundance the suns rays give to all living things on our beautiful planet. Well, something like that. There's a lot I could say about it, but it would take paragraphs and you probably already have a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about. I've put in some symbols of the Summer Solstice with the sunflowers, daisies and honeysuckles reaching toward the sun.

Backyard Jungle Art: My Etsy Store is Open - at long last!

http://www.backyardjungleart.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-etsy-store-is-open-at-long-last.html

Go to Your Studio and Make Stuff" Fred Babb. Sunday, July 19, 2015. My Etsy Store is Open - at long last! It took me awhile, but I've done, diddly, done it - finally! It was all the putsy stuff like shipping and legal things that took time to sift through - and I still don't have it all together and there's not much in it as yet, but I've been wanting to do this for some time and I'm excited that my Etsy shop is now up and running. Etsy has been in existence for 10 years now - wow! Send me an Email.

Backyard Jungle Art: Day of the Dead Mini ACEO Paintings

http://www.backyardjungleart.blogspot.com/2015/07/day-of-dead-mini-aceo-paintings.html

Go to Your Studio and Make Stuff" Fred Babb. Friday, July 10, 2015. Day of the Dead Mini ACEO Paintings. Day of the Dead - I know, it's been done to death.(sorry about that, hehe). But when I read that the new James Bond film opens with scenes from a Dia de los Muertos celebration, well, that got me thinking it might be fun to paint up some sugar skulls and see how it goes. If you search online, you'll find amazing artworks of this Mexican celebration that honors those that have gone on before. Creative ...

Southwest Florida Gardener: April 2014

http://southwestfloridagardener.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Welcome to my subtropical zone 10 garden! Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke). Monday, April 14, 2014. I absolutely LOVE when the Indigo Buntings are in town. They are so intensely blue and are so small and sweet. When they first arrived a few weeks ago, some were still in molt and looked like this. We've got Passionflowers galore. Anyway, the Sambac Jasmine is blooming like...

Welcome to my subtropical zone 10 garden! Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke). Saturday, March 8, 2014. Hey, it's Spring! The days are getting longer, the bees are buzzing. The buds are bursting. The gators hang out on the road in the winter months to get some heat and a little sun. Or they find an alluring swamp-side spot for an afternoon nap. They are so lovely! I hadn't s...

Welcome to my subtropical zone 10 garden! Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke). Monday, February 23, 2015. A Rose for my Nose. I am rather overjoyed at finding tea roses on markdown for only $3 each at the local garden center. And the most exciting part is they smell DIVINE! While I was at the garden center I had fun getting some other new flowers for the garden at $1 each&#4...

Welcome to my subtropical zone 10 garden! Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke). Tuesday, August 4, 2015. I've Forgiven my Angel Trumpet. You see, I'm not entirely sure she's guilty. But I have my suspicions - uncomfortably so. And even if she is guilty, it truly isn't her fault, it's just the way she is. Here's the story:. As I walked around I felt something bump into my head...

Welcome to my subtropical zone 10 garden! Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke). Saturday, June 27, 2015. Our yard backs up to this huge wildlife preserve that goes for miles down into the everglades. It's very active and I adore all the animal and bird friends that come out of it to visit the garden. Crotons surround the bottom bringing balance to the tall plantings. But if y...

Welcome to my subtropical zone 10 garden! Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke). Friday, April 24, 2015. It's that time again - when the Magnolia grandiflora is blooming in the backyard! It hasn't been very long ago that I noticed the buds that seemed to have popped up so quickly. I am compelled to touch their fuzziness. Then to watch them develop. I think she was reminding me...

Julie's Backyard Journal | Backyard habitat journal

Julie's Backyard Journal. Posted September 23, 2012 by julielwebster. When I was eleven I was stung by a yellow jacket. The attack seemed malicious and without provocation. I was helping carry a Ping-Pong table out of the neighbor’s garage at the time and couldn’t imagine why it considered me a threat. This year I installed a little nesting box for mason bees outside my backdoor. These bees are at risk because of habitat loss and pesticide use. It seems only fair to help them out when they taught...Sprin...
