Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Queen Latifah continues her career downward spiral since her Oscar nomination for 2002's. A harmless, yet ultimately bland and unnecessary remake of a film unseen by me. This is the kind of movie that makes you wonder why anyone involved thought it was worth making. It doesn't do anything original or interesting, it's immediately forgettable, and aside from a small handful of clever lines, it's not very funny. Director Wayne Wang (. The Joy Luck Club. Sunday, July 26, 2015. The last time we saw Jake Gyllenhaal on the big screen was in Nightcrawler. Where he played the wide-eyed and nearly skeletal antihero, Louis Bloom. It was a performance that should have earned an Oscar nomination, but sadly he was looked over. Now he's back in Southpaw. And he looks much more muscular, toned and dangerous. And while his performance here does not stand out quite as much, the transformation he has undergone between the two films is remarkable. Or Million Dollar Baby.

Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Shaun the Sheep Movie. I worry about the box office prospects of Shaun the Sheep Movie. This is an endearing stop-motion film from Aardman Studios, who have had some box office success in the States (most notably 2000's Chicken Run. But mostly are beloved by animation aficionados for their Wallace and Gromit. A movie I did enjoy, but I like this better), this is gentler, subtler and sweeter. Shaun the Sheep Movie. So, while I hope Shaun the Sheep. Posted by Ryan at 4:20 PM.

Friday, July 31, 2015. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. Film, I completely forget about all that, and find myself completely drawn in both to his performance and the movie he's in. Rogue Nation. Is no different, and is the best pure action summer entertainment we've had this year since Mad Max. But is perhaps best known for writing the classic thriller, The Usual Suspects. Film series is that rare franchise that has only improved with time. Has to offer. There's an amazing (and surprisingly funny)...

T was the 80's. We were younger then, and anything seemed possible. So it all seemed part of Destiny when my very first screenplay was bought and produced; fame and fortune was surely just around the corner. HA! Fat chance. For a couple of years afterwards, I told the sad tale to anyone who would listen - now it's your turn. The Movie Version I. Tricks of the Trade. No Noose is Good Noose. The Grossest Scene in the Whole Damn Movie. The Writer's Version II. The Big (Demo) Reel. The Movie Version II.

Saturday, December 31, 2005. While watching Wolf Creek. Is a movie that just plain doesn't work and goes nowhere for the longest time. So long in fact that the somewhat more interesting and intense second half just can't lift it up. I almost wish this was a short film, it would have been much more effective. At 100 minutes, though, Wolf Creek. Can strike that perfect balance between depravity and strong storytelling. See the movie times in your area or buy the DVD at Amazon.com! Saturday, July 18, 2015. Our attention is supposed to be focused on Amy Schumer, the TV comedian who stars in the film and wrote it as well. However, my attention was mainly focused on Bill Hader, the former Saturday Night Live. Star who plays Schumer's love interest. After his surprisingly nuanced performance in last year's The Skeleton Twins. And now this, Hader is shaping up to be an actor to watch closely. Like a lot of R-rated comedies aimed at adults, Trainwreck. Posted by Ryan at 6:25 PM.
