Bairnsdale in N scale. The aim of this Blog is to describe the research and building on an N scale version of Bairnsdale station and yard cicra early 1980's. Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Bairnsdale station Building Part 1. Well I've finished doing the first draft of the Bairnsdale station building. I drew the artwork up in Corel Draw from plans and photos, then scaled it then print out in N scale. From there I will paste to styrene and cut it out. I need to do etchings for the canopy, windows and doors.

The purpose is two fold, first to check the dimensions and assembly concept for the station building. Second to see how it fits on the module, and if any compromises need to be made. And finally an overall view.

Most of the buildings in the yard are much the same today as they were in the late 70's/80's that I'm looking to depict. This will make the modelling easier. The station will be the biggest challenge! Eternally the station building hasn't changed much over the years. Station looking West - Rob Carpenter 2009. It hasn't changed too much since 1910!

The first run didn’t quite work out, but I was still very happy with the result. I’m now looking at a new etching solution that does not need to be heated. I’m in the process of getting these acids.
