Quietly Musing: Fifty Shades of Purple
https://baiyu-quietmuse.blogspot.com/2015/07/fifty-shades-of-purple.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Fifty Shades of Purple. Is my favourite color, but fifty shades? I don't think so. I have actually only a few shades, and mostly amethyst. Some shades mentioned in Wikipedia include the following:. Amethyst, eggplant, fuchsia, indigo, lavender, magenta, mauve, orchid, plum, periwinkle, violet, mulberry, wisteria. Being a purple person I have always wanted purple beads to go with my outfits but purple beads that are old and preferably ancient are scarce. The last bracelet uses 3 sm...

Ramblings: October 2009
https://baiyu-ramblings.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 2, 2009. I chanced upon this bench. On a high ledge along. Red Brick Path in Botanic Gardens. Overlooking old trees, some are fossils. Among sunlight and birdsong. As in some enchanted garden. Prof I can see your spirit sitting here. Pulling at your pipe. What wry thoughts occupy your mind. As you observe the scene? Will you write a satirical verse? I dont know whether you liked nature. But your students sure picked a serene spot. If they chose this spot. They must have known your taste.

Ramblings: Blazing White.....
https://baiyu-ramblings.blogspot.com/2014/05/blazing-white.html
Tuesday, May 6, 2014. LALANG FIELDS BACK HOME. Turning into a sea of white is a beautiful sight to behold. I have lived here for more than 40 years and this is the first time that the green field behind my house has turned white. Perhaps the diligent grass cutters have been tardy and allowed the lalang to grow so tall and white for us to enjoy. Lalang fields back home. Lalang blowing in the wind. Ramblings: KINGFISHER ON MY FENCE
https://baiyu-ramblings.blogspot.com/2010/03/kingfisher-at-my-window.html
Friday, March 12, 2010. KINGFISHER ON MY FENCE. On the 12th day of CNY 2010 this friend came to greet me and how glad I was. As WW said, O welcome messenger! Kingfisher sits on my garden fence. It sat quietly on my garden fence as I enjoyed my beads sitting by the window. Looking up I was startled to spy my companion in blue from the forests wild - (shades of WW) HeHe! And so I crept silently away for my camera. Kingfisher on the fence. By my window deep into beads. Blue companion and me.

Quietly Musing: Jade Buttons
https://baiyu-quietmuse.blogspot.com/2006/12/jade-buttons.html
Sunday, December 17, 2006. I collect antique jade buttons as a pastime. My buttons date mostly from Ming through Qing Dynasty. Most of them were purchased in Singapore, and China. The best pieces come from Xian, Luoyang and Shenzhen. Sometimes these buttons are also called jade flowers because of the floral design. Another use for them may have been as units for hairpins.
