Homemade Caramels | The Baking Band Geek
http://bakingbandgeek.blogspot.com/2012/07/homemade-caramels.html
The Baking Band Geek. The compulsive baking of a starving musician. Thursday, July 12, 2012. So, I have this super sneaky life plan right now. For those of you who haven't heard it, I promise I'll spill everything soon. It does however, involves my chocolate chip cookies. That story has absolutely nothing to do with these caramels. I just needed an interesting story to go with these, and that's what my friend came up with. She did enjoy these caramels however! Once they're done, the results are worth it&...
Vanilla Cookies | The Baking Band Geek
http://bakingbandgeek.blogspot.com/2012/06/vanilla-cookies.html
The Baking Band Geek. The compulsive baking of a starving musician. Sunday, June 24, 2012. Humor me for a minute. Flavors are weird. In ice cream land, there's three categories of flavors; chocolate, vanilla, and other. Chocolate's awesome, and "other" is cool and all, but with the exception of middle-aged men, nobody loves vanilla. It's considered a base for other flavors, both in ice cream land, and baking land. It's the modern equivalent of "plain" flavored. Or just eat them, that works too! Combine b...
Chocolate Chip Meringue Cookies | The Baking Band Geek
http://bakingbandgeek.blogspot.com/2011/12/chocolate-chip-meringue-cookies.html
The Baking Band Geek. The compulsive baking of a starving musician. Saturday, December 10, 2011. Chocolate Chip Meringue Cookies. You can tell when it's finals week. My baking increases exponentially. See, my major's not normal. We don't have finals. We have juries, aka, play for the music faculty and get a grade for your private lessons. They suck, but at least they're not real finals. Thus, meringue cookies. With candy cane chunks or mint chips? Or mini m m's? 17 years later, still mixing. We're talkin...

Sex Cookies | The Baking Band Geek
http://bakingbandgeek.blogspot.com/2011/10/sex-cookies.html
The Baking Band Geek. The compulsive baking of a starving musician. Saturday, October 22, 2011. So, when I was little, my mommy made cookies. Because she's awesome. Now when you're little, "cookies" is a fairly limited category. There's chocolate chip, and gingerbread men, and sugar cookies. And in my house, oatmeal scotchies, aka oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips. They were just normal cookies. So I took a poll on facebook, who had ever had/heard of oatmeal scotchies? They've inadvertently become ...

Farm share stories: September 2012
http://farmsharestories.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 27, 2012. This is a post ostensibly about canning but it is actually about ebooks (disclosure: making ebooks is my day job). (There's also a free vegetable PDF-ebook for the low, low price of your email address.) Feel free to stop reading here. I wanted Put 'Em Up. I have a lot of quibbles with Amazon. Over the open EPUB standard. I buy most of my ebook...

Baking Bananas
Monday, August 25, 2014. Ok so we all know how I feel about cupcakes. I love them. And a good cupcake needs an amazing icing. Add in half of the icing sugar, vanilla, and cream. Beat mixing well approx 2 min. Repeat with the remainder. Its that easy and so delicious. The Baking Band Geek. The compulsive baking of a starving musician. Monday, August 6, 2012. So what did I bake today? Remember the chocolate chip meringue cookies. And how I said they were super versatile? Orange meringue cookies. Orange extract, a dash of food coloring, and a stand mixer that whips them up thick enough to actually pipe out, and voila! Links to this post. Friday, July 20, 2012. Yeah, ok. I'm a little behind the trend here. Cue the cookie dough dip. We had leftovers of this stuff in the h...
