Whistling in the Light. Wednesday, November 09, 2005. Plus Cest La Même Chose. Paris, July 14, 1789:. Paris November 4, 2005. Thats right. five days ago was the tenth day of rioting in France. Pray for the French people, their leaders and even the damned fool* rioters. I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to themthat hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. Yes, that was NOT profanity; it was a theological assessment.). How do you know?

Whistling in the Light: Job was a piker
http://whistlinginthelight.blogspot.com/2005/11/job-was-piker.html
Whistling in the Light. Saturday, November 19, 2005. Job was a piker. NOTE: I am posting this "Thanksgiving" post in advance of Thanksgiving Day in hopes that it might help even just one person redirect their thinking as we approach a day set apart especially for giving thanks.]. The biblical story of Job is a story of faith in the face of extreme adversity. Pretty darned bad, eh? But Job's just a myth, right? How about an historical example, well-known and verified? With ever joyful hearts and blessèd p...

Whistling in the Light: Evensong
http://whistlinginthelight.blogspot.com/2005/11/evensong.html
Whistling in the Light. Tuesday, November 15, 2005. You know, sometimes when things around me are moving at a pace that challenges my sanity; when I'm just too darned tired for words; when the tintinabulation of the bells (the bells, the bells. ) in my ears beckons to the Edgar Allen Poe part of me, it's time to take a break and listen to the voice of Robert Louis Stephenson. THE embers of the day are red. Beyond the murky hill. The kitchen smokes: the bed. In the darkling house is spread:. Dig the grave...

Whistling in the Light: April 2005
http://whistlinginthelight.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Whistling in the Light. Thursday, April 28, 2005. There is just no other art so strong as a piece of music that knows where it's going. Every now and then I hear a piece that simply captures me. The piece can be a longer work, even symphonic, or a short song. The magical part is that it's designed. Travel to a specific meaning and it effectively works to arrive where it's designed to go. It's easy to see why Sibelius'. And Nick Glennie-Smith and Randall Wallace's. Mansions of the Lord. Art for Gods Sake.

Whistling in the Light: Art for God's Sake
http://whistlinginthelight.blogspot.com/2006/08/art-for-gods-sake.html
Whistling in the Light. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Art for God's Sake. I haven't posted here in a while. In part, because it seems that contemporary events are unremittingly negative. And so it goes. Yesterday, a friend who was my pianist at my last gig "doing art" full time in a church died in a car accident. The quoted material below came today from Chip Stam's "Worship Quote of the Week". And seemed not at all tangentially fitting, since Patricia did her artful best to glorify God in her piano work.

A writer’s weblog. Posted by: Nancy Axelrad. October 31, 2007. Love Language, 14. They say when a memory is retold, it changes. Between the rust and diamonds of life, I found a pearl: the power of love that produces the memory does not change. This post, like me, is a work-in-progress. Over the past few days, I have been exposed to the rust and diamonds of life, to quote a once popular folksinger. Isaac made another glistening handprint, this time on the window of my soul. She comforts, encourages,.
