The grand eagles are masked in mystery. Nobody knows exactly how many eagles were created and no one can say who the sculptor was or where exactly they were created. Each of the massive eagles has a wingspan of fourteen feet and weigh in at more then 3,000 pounds. He was definitely not disappointed. This eagle was located on the grounds of the former Mary Immaculate Friary. The estate is now owned by the Capuchin Seminary. The eagle and ball had been sprayed with some kind of gray paint. This eagle was very difficult to get to having to walk through thick woods to even find it. Contact with the property owners in 1995 (the property was sold many times) brought about a world of change for the very historic eagle. Laurie Hawk and Paul Grand Pre, the owners of the "Eagle Property" as some of the old Bronxville residents called it, donated the eagle to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, even after being offered $100,000 dollars from a dealer.
