Ballard Bars: October 2005
http://ballardbars.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Where we visit all of Ballard's bars and come home alive to write about 'em. Sunday, October 23, 2005. 5425 Russell Avenue NW. Research Assistants: Rad and Lynn. Being as Ballard Bars is all about the high life, it seemed appropriate to start this project at one of Ballard's new joints, the Hi-Life. The Hi-Life is both a restaurant and a bar. That means one thing for Happy Hour hounds like ourselves: Good Eats! We enjoyed tasty small pizzas and nice salads for $3 apiece. The Hi-Life reflects the New Ball...

Ballard Bars: November 2005
http://ballardbars.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Where we visit all of Ballard's bars and come home alive to write about 'em. Sunday, November 13, 2005. Jolly Roger Tap Room. Jolly Roger Tap Room. 1514 NW Leary Way. Ballard’s bar history is full of ramshackle joints where fishermen and seafarers would cash (and drink away) their checks before going back out to sea. The Jolly Roger evokes that look but thankfully lacks the squalor of those bars. It’s a small but cozy space, perfect on a rainy night. Friday, November 04, 2005. 5429 Ballard Avenue, N.W.

Seattle Song: A Follow up on Ballard Past and Present
http://seattlesong.blogspot.com/2007/05/follow-up-on-ballard-past-and-present.html
Ideas for enjoying the real life of Seattle (that often cost little or nothing). Saturday, May 12, 2007. A Follow up on Ballard Past and Present. Yesterday, the Seattle Times published a front page story. Of the blending and clashing of the old and new Ballard. It also mentioned the Ballard Historical Society. Both the article and the Society's website are good reads. Posted by Cascadia Girl at 8:49 AM. Subscribe to Post Comments [ Atom. Seattle, Washington, United States. View my complete profile.

Ballard Avenue: January 2009

You want some a capella harmony? Well, you can't go wrong with three Welshmen. Monday, January 05, 2009. Photo by Ballard Avenue. Back from the beach, Carkeek Park is the Land of the Bigleaf Maple. How big is that leaf? That's a size 6 shoe. Saturday, January 03, 2009. Some more cold feet. Photo by Ballard Avenue. We caught these fellows trying to catch a salmon or two the same day we saw the kayakers. Maybe we should add four more cold feet to the day's total. Friday, January 02, 2009. Spill it, sister.

Ballard was settled by Scandinavians in the late 19th-century. While we weren't part of the original migration, we've lived here a long time and still like it. View my complete profile. Ballard Avenue: While we were out: Birds do it (sorta)
http://ballardavenue.blogspot.com/2010/01/while-we-were-out-birds-do-it-sorta.html
While we were out: Birds do it (sorta). Photo by Ballard Avenue. Last spring a pair of osprey. Built a nest on the south tower of the Salmon Bay railroad bridge. They didn't seem to mind the noisy trains and appreciated the salmon run in the Ship Canal below. We watched to see if there would be little bundles of osprey joy in the summer, but no such luck. They flew off elsewhere in the fall. Monday, January 04, 2010. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. You're doing it wrong.
