8216;Cause Joy Yee’s ain’t big enough anymore. The Mouse with all the answers. August 17, 2008. I read the Penguin Classics edition from way back, from those days when they were fixated on that color that Sherwin Williams. Might most closely call “Witty Green.” The dark blue of the current edition seems much more serious to me. We’re painting the house soon. The house has many books in it. This is important stuff. Any favorite colors we should use? I’m currently reading. The World Without Us.

8216;Cause Joy Yee’s ain’t big enough anymore. July 15, 2008. Man, this happens to me every summer. Hannah Arendt is eating a hole through my skull and I’m desperately needing to take a pen to my copy to get better mental traction before my whole brain just slides right out. In the meantime, I did happen to notice that the “Great Books Foundation” has book club discussion guides for both Eichmann in Jerusalem. 183;Tags: Eichmann in Jerusalem. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. 8216;Cause Joy Yee’s ain’t big enough anymore. September 2, 2008. I finally purchased both the Rushdie and the Davis. Despite the order of the blog title, I’ve the feeling I’ll be reading the Davis first. I find the physical object of the book slightly less daunting, and I’m feeling a bit nonfictionier these days. Response to your Arendt thang momenticiously. Blog at WordPress.com.

8216;Cause Joy Yee’s ain’t big enough anymore. Back to the blog. November 18, 2010. First off, an apology. I have been meaning to write a post about Eichmann in Jerusalem for over two years now. My punishment has been that the things that moved me most in that book have festered, undigestable without your very able help for the duration. Unfortunately for both of us, God knows if either of us can remember enough details to make heads or tails of the post I’m about to write. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Artistico-socio-political ramblings, disorientations, confusions, and ducks. And Friday Poetry. We have that too. Monday, June 27, 2005. Maybe We're the Problem. Spoilers are Shakespeare plays- several of them, particularly The Merchant of Venice. And The Taming of the Shrew. The other night Lucas and I were talking about racism and sexism in literature, our ability to really like certain works in spite of their clear racism (Hemingway, in his case) or misogynism ( One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Twenty-two bonus blog points if you can tell me the source of the title. EDIT: Please read the comments after this. I won't violate the post, but Connor shot me down in fashions I consider extremely productive. END OF EDIT. So then, why am I contemptuous of suburban living in the suburbs of major cities? Wow, I'm actually addressing something concrete that's happening right now. For some reason I feel like that never happens. So how does this connect to torture? Posted by G @ 9:46 AM. Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Will it pass with the passage of Bush? Perhaps. It can't be undone; most of the damage done by the Red Scare could. When yo...Symbo...

I'm well aware it's been almost a month since I posted- you don't have to *tell* me. I still have a comment of Lawrence's I need to respond to, even. It has been some kinda month, but I'll try to get a couple more in for April so I'm still on Connor's "post frequently" list. If not, oh well. A Nation of Laws. I know this is ver...

Artistico-socio-political ramblings, disorientations, confusions, and ducks. And Friday Poetry. We have that too. Wednesday, July 20, 2005. I Will Bear Witness (Grrr). Can witnessing be active, then, or are you simply weighted down by it? How and why did this become a social value? It is, of course, true that we present a front of valuing honesty more than we actually do, perhaps more than we actually can (in Jon Stewart's America (The Book). And Michael Rohd's Theatre for Community, Conflict and Dialogue.

Artistico-socio-political ramblings, disorientations, confusions, and ducks. And Friday Poetry. We have that too. Saturday, November 27, 2004. The Penumbrae are Emanating . . . ewwwwwww. Somehow I feel like I must be wrong about it being Clarence Thomas, but why on earth would I think it was he if it wasn't? I think this might have been where I was going when I wrote the first two paragraphs two weeks ago. That is the very essence of the right's economic stance, isn't it? Friday, August 6, 2010. Friday Night in Albany. It never fails to amaze me how the landscape of Banalbany changes over the course of the year. The colleges are influential in a good and bad way. I love being here during the summer months because of the weather, more events going down (yo) and you don't need to be shoulder to shoulder at the bar on Madison Avenue if that's not your kind of thing. Unless it is. I won't judge you. How is your Friday night shaping up? Links to this post. Links to this post.
