Recently I joined some friends at The Bottom Lounge. In Chicago to catch Friendly Fires. The Fires were right on target but the band that opened for them, called The xx. Blew me away. They incorporate heavy bass, trippy flanged out atmospheric guitar and a drum machine to back it up. Very cool sound. Immediately I found similarities to early Cure. Mixed with an almost.
