Brock in Bangkok

Monday, June 30, 2008. It's going to take me awhile to catch up on everything that happened while my family was here. We had a lot of fun but their troubles didn't stop with flight times. I did my best to keep them out of trouble but I did have to work a lot during their trip so I'd plan things for them to do during the day while I wasn't around. The first day I told them to go shopping at the MBK. Driver to take them there. The tuk. The next day I told them how to go to the Grand Palace and specifically...

Brock in Bangkok: Songkran water fights

http://www.bangkokbrock.blogspot.com/2008/05/songkran-water-fights.html

Monday, May 5, 2008. I can't resist writing a little something about Songkran. Here in Thailand. It's Thailand's New Year, but they celebrate it in a fairly different way. They decide to have a country wide water fight that lasts for the better part of a week. This may sound so innocent you may wonder how a few hundred people were killed this year like every other year. ( http:/ enews.mcot.net/view.php? Well this isn't a normal water fight. It's basically a water fight. We also toured a few other cities ...

Brock in Bangkok: I can't be exposed to my thoughts

http://www.bangkokbrock.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-cant-be-exposed-to-my-thoughts.html

Sunday, March 16, 2008. I can't be exposed to my thoughts. I just realized I can post to my blog, but not view my own blog while in China. All blogs have to be resistered in China so I'm very surprized they're letting me post at all. So could someone shoot me an email and let me know if this is going through? Rumor all my friends in China have blogs. :-) Welcome to China, Brock! March 18, 2008 at 11:54 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I cant be exposed to my thoughts. The office mens room.

Brock in Bangkok: Phuket Marathon

http://www.bangkokbrock.blogspot.com/2008/06/phuket-marathon.html

Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Last week some friends of mine invited me to go with them to Phuket. But I still mostly felt ok. So I kept going and figured even if I only do a half marathon that's still pretty good all things considered. Then around two hours and 22km in to it I was feeling mixed about my situation. On one hand I made it half way through a marathon but on the other hand I felt near death and realized I was in the middle of nowhere making my quiting option less feasible than I first thought.

A Passage from India: Overkill Drill?

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2008/12/overkill-drill.html

A Passage from India. Friday, 19 December 2008. Everyone is adjusting to life after the terrible events in Mumbai. . Suddenly the normal is second-guessed. My first visit to a 5* hotel afterwards saw my dining colleagues and I spend the first 10 minutes of our meal discussing our tactics for escape should the unthinkable happen (get outside or head for the kitchens, FYI). Our office now has a policeman stationed outside, armed with an old rifle. . I like the location - Baddy court! Gap in the Service.

A Passage from India: Beat Booze Ban

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2008/11/beat-booze-ban.html

A Passage from India. Monday, 10 November 2008. An astonishing piece of journalism in The Times of India. On the front page was an article advising citizens of how to BEAT a breathaliser test. Never mind, don't drink and drive, this message was go ahead and get drunk and here is how you can take the wheel and not get caught. Their advise was to have a very fat or very tall person drive as their body mass bonus means they can absorb more booze. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Class, Gold Class.

A Passage from India: Maid of Honour?

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2008/11/maid-of-honour.html

A Passage from India. Thursday, 20 November 2008. Trouble across the hall; my neighbours have evicted their maid. I came out of the lifts yesterday and stumbled into a very tense scene on the 14th floor landing. My neighbour, two security sprites and an unidentified serious man had surrounded a maid. She was clearly being thrown out of my neighbour's flat as she was dressed in many layers and carrying a small suitcase. . Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Class, Gold Class. A Passage from India. Thursday, 30 October 2008. Who is this aimed at? Are injured deer something that large numbers of early adopter people worry about? A Passage from India: Ringing the Changes

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2007/06/ringing-changes.html

A Passage from India. Friday, 1 June 2007. The sprites have been at work in The Tower. Has been replaced yet again. The happy bumble bee and giddy giraffe have disappeared and been replaced with a pastoral scene featuring a cottage, a well and a windmill. I'll miss my enthusiastic animal friends. A Passage from India: The 6 stages of the mosquito bite

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2008/11/6-stages-of-mosquito-bite.html

A Passage from India. Tuesday, 4 November 2008. The 6 stages of the mosquito bite. Barely noticeable at the time. Usually somewhere at the edge of clothes. Ankle is prime location. A subtle needling tingle begins on the affected area. Before you know it, you are absently mindedly scratching, increasing in ferocity, before you realise what you are doing and inspect the area of your attentions. You will notice a white bump surrounded by an angry red blush. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Passage from India: Rung Out

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2008/11/rung-out.html

A Passage from India. Thursday, 13 November 2008. The wee boy who lives across the hall is a terror. . As long-term readers can testify, I haven't enjoyed the b est of luck with doorbells. And once again, I've got a new one. The dervish boy, in another fit of attention seeking behaviour, was pressing it continuously, as well as kicking and banging my front door [which isn't exactly robust. He was not to be deterred and pressed so long that the doorbell exploded! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Passage from India: Foggy Memories

http://apassagefromindia.blogspot.com/2008/11/foggy-memories.html

A Passage from India. Monday, 10 November 2008. As winter approaches, so does the fog. Delhi is cloaked in a brown ming in the winter months as cold air traps pollution and smoke from fires in a brown cloak above the city. . Witness the visibility at Delhi airport on Saturday morning. . Created a lovely orange sunrise though. . Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Class, Gold Class. A weekend in Udaipur. The 6 stages of the mosquito bite.
