Tips: other | Banjo Meets World
https://banjomeetsworld.wordpress.com/tips-for-learning-by-ear-other-repertoires
Tunes and tab for adventurous clawhammer banjo players. Playing “dark” tunes. Many of the tunes on this site are dark, and some are complex. You might be tempted to assume that a minor tune is “sad” and should be played slowly, but these are dance tunes, made to be played at dance tempos. Embrace the darkness! Learning by ear outside the usual repertoire. For learning Irish and other complex tunes, I rely on the Amazing Slow Downer. Which lets you change the tempo and pitch of a recording independently.
Single Ply Rim Rolling | Bill Rickard Banjos
https://rickardbanjo.wordpress.com/2010/03/31/single-ply-rim-rolling
Finely crafted Banjos and Banjo parts. Single Ply Rim Rolling. I’ve been working on a new concept for building banjo rims with only one ply. Shown is a piece of 3 wide x 7/8 thick hard maple being rooled into a single ply rim with a 10 inside diameter. This was done without any pre-steaming of the stock. It was rolled cold with no fracturing of the rim an the outside edge. Up until now this would be considered as impossible to do! By billrickard on 03/31/2010. Posted in Banjo building. I using standard O...
