Well, the trip to Anchorage was a shopping success. To top it all off, the Hot Mechanic picked up a craft. Other than reloading, shooting, fourwheelers, fixing things (including some welding/fabrication type stuff), and things like that he doesn't really have a craft-ie or artistic type hobby. So he ended up with the Tandy Deluxe starter kit. He took longer in Black Elk than I did! He's doing a pretty good job, and that DVD that came with the kit was pretty decent with technique explanation too. For now,...

Dyed Veg Tan: Can ya soak it?: forleatherworks
http://forleatherworks.livejournal.com/9743.html
Dyed Veg Tan: Can ya soak it? Long time no posts! That's ok tho. Hope folks have had time for leather projects since the summertime! I have done a few small ones- did a leather sheath for a hunting knife (reversed the pattern accidentally- d'oh! And of course, plenty of drinking horn bands. I had to beat the hell out of it with mallets and soak it in conditioner to get it to cut safely. It was an awful lot of effort to get small strips! Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. Supplies Surprises: Things I have learned in the last week. Http:/ www.etsy.com/listing/84613081/one-f. The advantage of circle bags for my stuff is that they are not so labor intensive as the runes themselves are, and they are large enough to put hand made (carved and/or stamped) badges on! Thats all the news for now. hope to hear something about what you all have been up to project wise soon! Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. Crossposted: The Word on Leather Dyes. I confess, the matter related to the rumor about the banning of Spirit and Oil Based dyes was eating at me, so I made some calls. I called the instructor at the local Tandy, a representative at Fiebings and Corporate at Tandy. What you told me didn't smell right- probably through no fault of your own. However, rather than just stewing about it, I thought it would be best to go to the source. I think someone deserves a cheese hat for the month. Post a new comment.

New project: First Drum: forleatherworks
http://forleatherworks.livejournal.com/10749.html
New project: First Drum. It took me at least three attempts to put the head on this drum. The heads and frame came from a kit . The lace I bought separately. I am looking for a source for 1/4 lace, rather than the 1/8 I used here. Worse come to worse, I'll cut my own from a rawhide doggie chew next time! Post a new comment. We will log you in after post.
