Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I found these old school stainless steel lunchboxes a couple years ago at a garage sale and couldn't resist. Brings back memories of Korea, picnics, Mom. All that good stuff. 1 bowl cooked rice. 1 fried egg, sunny side up. Some crushed seasoned seaweed. Banchan 1: Lotus Root. Banchan 2: Stir Fried Anchovy. When you have all your banchan ready you can start assembling the lunchbox. First put the rice in the lunchbox. We used the second lunchbox for dessert. Fresh cherries! Lotus roo...

Bap Story: October 2011

http://bapstory.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 23, 2011. Seaweed Salad (Miyuk Muchim). This seaweed salad is a great little appetizer or side dish for when you want to eat light. We looked at the ingredients and it looks like there are no calories! Anyway, it was such a warm and beautiful Saturday afternoon we pretended we were camping and made this dish outside. 2 small handfuls of dried seaweed (can be bought in most Asian markets). 1 small cucumber or 1/2 a large one. 2 T rice vinegar. 1/2 T red chili powder. 1 T lemon juice. 1 T d...

Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Stir Fried Dried Cuttlefish (Ojinguh Chae Bokkeum). A staple side dish in most Korean kitchens and lunchboxes. Takes less than 5 minutes to make and will stay good for a long time. Adjust the amount of red chili paste and sugar depending on how spicy and sweet you like it. 2 cups of dried cuttlefish strips. 1/2 T rice wine. 1/2 T soy sauce. 1/2 T plum extract (optional, but it will taste better with it). 1 TKorean cooking syrup (agave works too). It's good warm or cold. It's a l...

Bap Story: April 2012

Monday, April 16, 2012. Potato Pancake (Gahmja Jeon). Yes, we love pancakes and can't get enough. Here we are making yet another Korean pancake. It is a bit more labor intensive than other pancakes but we think it's totally worth it. Great for a rainy afternoon snack. Small handful of chopped Chinese leeks (optional). 1 chili pepper, thinly sliced. 1 Peel the potatoes and grate them on a fine grater. 2 Put the grated potatoes in a strainer and let the water drain out. Posted by jeana sohn. 1 T sesame oil.

Bap Story: January 2012

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Kimchi Pancake (Kimchi Jeon). Kimchi pancakes is another easy dish to whip up easily when you need to make a snack or extra banchan with ingredients you most likely already have. 1/2 cup pancake mix or flour. 1 cup chopped kimchi. 1 green chili pepper. 1/2 cup icy cold water. 1 Slice the chili pepper. 2 Put the kimchi, flour, water in a bowl. 3 Mix it well. 5 Use a spatula to spread it into a flat round shape. 6 Place some chili slices onto the pancake. Bap Story: Lotus Root (Yeongun Bokkum)

http://bapstory.blogspot.com/2012/05/lotus-root-yeongun-bokkum.html

Monday, May 21, 2012. Lotus Root (Yeongun Bokkum). Lotus root is one of those exotic things you find on your table at Korean or Japanese restaurants, but it's actually a common side dish great for lunchboxes or everyday meals. I love the cuteness of the shape and it's delicious as well. 6 inches of lotus root sliced into 1/4" rounds. 2 T rice vinegar. 3 T soy sauce. 2 cups and 1/2 cup water. 2 T rice wine. 2 In a smaller bowl, mix up the soy sauce, water, sugar and honey. 3 Drain the lotus root slices.

I want the world to stop: November 2011

http://iwanttheworld-tostop.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

I want the world to stop. Sunday, November 27, 2011. Vegetarian san choy bow. Not the prettiest dish in the world, but it's my new favourite dish. This week, we've got heaps of lettuce leaves in our vegie box. I don't normally buy lots of lettuce leaves myself, as they tend to wilt in a few days in the fridge, and to be honest, I thought iceberg lettuce is the most boring tasteless vegie ever. Anyway, this particular iceberg lettuce that I've got is far from boring, it tasted really fresh and crunchy!

http://iwanttheworld-tostop.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

I want the world to stop. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. There's no specific recipe for this, making lasagna is about a journey of your own, trying to find your own perfect recipe. I recently found mine. A few small things that makes all the difference :. Thats it. I don't even need to add a lot of cheese, just plain cheddar, doesn't have to be mozzarella. With some fresh salad on the side, (broccoli is a must in this house of mine), and some croutons, as if I need more carbs. Monday, September 27, 2010.

I want the world to stop: rocket and parsley pesto

http://iwanttheworld-tostop.blogspot.com/2011/11/rocket-and-parsley-pesto.html

I want the world to stop. Monday, November 14, 2011. Rocket and parsley pesto. A lovely lady from work (a different one from last one), shared her fresh rocket from her vegie garden. It's the freshest rocket leaves I've ever tasted! I don't want them to wilt, but I really want to enjoy it longer. So, I bought myself a bag of walnuts, and googled 'vegan rocket pesto' just because I don't want to use parmesan, trying to cut back on my saturated fat intake. The search landed me on this. Juice of one lemon.

I want the world to stop: it took me five years, but I finally love you, Vegemite

http://iwanttheworld-tostop.blogspot.com/2011/09/it-took-me-five-years-but-i-finally.html

I want the world to stop. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. It took me five years, but I finally love you, Vegemite. First time I had a taste of vegemite was five years ago, straight from the jar (belong to my ex-housemate), with a teaspoon. My thought was, revolting. Second time, in a scroll from bakers delight, couldn't finish the whole scroll, but I manage to squeeze a few bites-full. Maybe I was hungry, or maybe I just started to warmed up to this yeasty jar of brown paste. I'm glad I was persistent.

I want the world to stop. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. This song now stuck in my head. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Breaking through the brick wall. Aka my fear of uncertainty. (and handstand-drop over! Sunday, April 25, 2010. Celebrating my 27th years in the world :). Thursday, April 22, 2010. My scary, scary face. I realized that I don't have the friendliest face in the world, but what happened today still amused me ;. Is my face really that scary without a smile? Hmm, maybe I should smile more often :).
