Bar 5 was established in 1969, by a group of 5 Manitoba ranchers of Shorthorn & Hereford cattle, Bar 5 imported more than 100 Simmental breeding females from Europe during the 1970's, and developed a cross breeding program to upgrade from British based cows to 7/8 or more Simmental Breeding stock. In 1978, Bar 5 sold off most of the percentage cattle and focused on the Fullblood Simmental herd until 2002. In 2002, Bar 5 moved to introduce a Designed Maternal Crossbreeding system to offer our customers 5 dif
